I looked down at my feet as Mary and I shuffled back to the lunchroom.
The corridor was silent, other than the sounds of our feet hitting against the tiled hallway.
Mary's hands were in her pockets, while mine were in front of me, holding my lunch bag.
"So do you want to tell me what happened in there?" Mary asked.
I visibly gulped. I don't want to lie to Mary, and I don't have a reason to, yet I don't want to burden her with my troubles.
"I-it was n-nothing."
Mary's eyes softened. "I know that we just met but you can honestly tell me anything, Molly."
I fidgeted with my hands, then sighed, defeated. "Sherlock said something that didn't sit well with me."
At that, Mary perked up. "Sherlock? Why were you speaking to Sherlock?"
"It was more like he spoke to me."
This heightened her interest. "You? He opened up a conversation with you?"
I cast my eyes downward, a little offended, taking it the wrong way. "Well, more like he asked me why I was sitting at his table."
Noticing my tone, Mary turned to me, "I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that. It's just that Sherlock doesn't a conversation with anyone. Period."
"Other than John right?"
"Yes," she whispered, obviously thinking of something related to John, then cleared her throat. "So he kicked you out?"
"N-no"
Confused Mary asked, "Then why did you run out of the cafeteria?"
We were at the doors now, so I replied, "He just made a comment that upset me."
Understanding that she won't get more out of me, she nodded then said, "Well we are gonna teach him a lesson."
My eyes widened. "A lesson?"
"Oh yes my little innocent and naiive friend, a lesson. We are going to give Sherlock a beating."
I paused, shocked. Mary laughed then, opening the doors to the cafeteria. "I'm joking Molly, but I am still gonna talk to him."
We walked back to the table, where Sherlock and John were talking. Well, more like John, while he ate a sandwich. Sherlock had his elbows on the table, with his fingers steepled under his chin. He was staring straight ahead, lost in his mind. He wasn't even blinking. While John chattered excitingly, Sherlock was still. It was only until we reached their table that oen of them noticed us.
Sherlock didn't even need to look at us before he said in that deep, emotionless voice, "I suspect the reason that you have returned is to tell me off."
At that, John finally noticed our presence.
Molly's throat went dry. How did he know that?
Mary, seeming unaffected, rolled her eyes. She stepped to the side, revealing my hiding figure behind her back.
Sherlock, as still as a statue, glanced to the side, to take a look at me.
"So she's back."
I didn't realize that he acknowledged me until Mary nudged me. My eyes cast down to the floor and I ducked my head.
"Yes she's back to take what is rightfully hers."
John looked confused, while Sherlock rolled his eyes, then finally turned to us.
"What are you waiting for Molly, tell me off," he replied icily.
My head snapped up, then I looked down again.
"I'll be doing the talking." Mary announced.
When Sherlock didn't reply, Mary continued, "You can't just walk in here like an arrogant prick and decide to ask like an arsehole to Molly when all she did was sit at a table. If anything, she should be sitting here. You don't own this table, and you sure as hell should not speak to Molly like that. I expect that you apologize."
While Sherlock glared at Mary, John looked surprised and-awed? Me, I was silent and shocked.
John spoke up saying, "I do believe that you owe Molly an apology."
Then, they all turned their attention to me. Mary looked at me with a smirk, content with her rant. John smiled at me sadly, and Sherlock's expression was guarded.
He said in a cool voice, "I apologize Molly."
Breathing out a sigh of relief, I didn't realize what he said after that.
"And I hope your brother recovers from his drug relapse."
I froze, my heart dropping to my feet. Tears pooled my vision for the second time that day, and I again, dashed out of the cafeteria, while Mary and John called my name.
