Shawn left for recording in LA as your job picked back up, giving you the house to yourself for a few weeks. As much as you missed him, it was nice to be alone for a bit. After all that crazy stress over the past few months, being able to keep to yourself was awfully nice. Although, you did get into these needy moods, missing Shawn. Especially his body. It was so weird.

You didn't miss him that much, though. Yes, you were in love and yes, he was your husband and all that. But he'd been making you irritable lately and you were relieved to have some time apart.

It was Saturday, so you'd been lounging around, in and out of bed. Being a bookworm, you had no trouble reading for a bit, then putting the book down once you got bored, and picking it back up again half an hour later. The Magicians was quite interesting but did have some dry chapters.

Everything was how is always was. Normal. Still, however, somehow, something felt off. It wasn't until you picked up your phone and clicked the home button that you saw a notification from Clue, warning you that your period was late. Your heart began beating rapidly and you suddenly felt a bit lightheaded.

"Don't get your hopes up, Y/N. Do not get your hopes up." you told yourself, trying to conclude that it was probably stress or a change in diet or just a fluke. You couldn't get your hopes up. If they were let down, you'd be crushed. You'd wanted this so bad and so did Shawn. You couldn't afford to get your hopes up.

You sat down on your couch, looking eastward at the Toronto skyline. Pondering a moment, you began putting the pieces together.

Sleep. You'd been falling asleep as early as nine at night, waking up at seven. Ten hours of sleep every night? Holy shit.

The fridge. It was full of shit food. Pizza, leftover fried chicken, and last night's wings. Also, the snack cupboard was fully stocked a week ago, and you'd put quite the dent in it.

Mood swings. You were horny for Shawn all the time but also couldn't bear the thought of living with him right now. All his little antics were kind of annoying to you recently, but you used to find them adorable.

You had to be. Must have been. It made sense. You'd done everything right.

Throwing on an oversized hoodie and some Ugg boots, you grabbed your keys and left the condo, headed for the Shopper's Drug Mart a block over.

Walking into Shopper's you were sidetracked by the candy aisle, throwing some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Mini Eggs into the basket hanging from your forearm. Did you even need to take the freaking test? It was fucking obvious. You may as well have written "pregnant woman" on your forehead.

Collecting yourself, you headed into the Family Planning aisle, picking up two pregnancy tests and heading for the checkout. Growing antsy, you tapped your Optimum card, paid for the tests and candy, and power-walked back to your building. As soon as you got back in your front door, you shoved a peanut butter cup into your mouth as you unwrapped the first and second test, making your way into your bathroom.

Too nervous to pee, you sat there a while, thinking to yourself.

Shawn was gone now. He was away, and your work was getting so busy. The window of opportunity for a baby kind of closed, and maybe now wasn't the time.

But maybe it was? You'd both been dying for this for so long, and maybe it was finally all happening for you. Maybe it was your turn to start a family. Just maybe.

You finally relaxed, peeing on both sticks. This was terrible. It was the worst, most anxious feeling you'd ever had, waiting expectantly but trying not to expect too much.

You washed your hands and laid the tests on the edge of the sink, leaving them to determine your fate in peace for a few minutes.

Wandering into your bedroom and picking up your phone, you saw you had four texts and a missed call from Shawn. You dialled his number and held the phone to your ear.

"Hey, baby! Are you okay? I haven't heard from you!" he said through a smile. You could just tell.

"Hey honey. Yeah, I'm good. What's goin' on?" you asked, concerned at his trying to reach you.

"Nothing. I just wanted to talk to you. You know I love you so much, right? Like, so so much? More than anything?" he said, warming your heart.

"Yes, love. I know. I love you that much and then a bit more, okay?" you reassured him.

"Nope. I love you most. I gotta go, but call me later?" he asked.

"Yes baby, I'll call you later. I love you."

"I love you more. Bye babe." he hung up and you raced back into the washroom, ready to have a full-blown meltdown. You had to know.

You couldn't even look. This was about to either dictate the rest of your life, or bum you the fuck out. After a mental battle with yourself, you finally decided to look, taking a deep breath.

Two lines. Two lines on both tests. Reaching for the box out of the garbage, you checked to make sure that two lines meant you were definitely pregnant.

A rush of relief and warmth flooded through you as tears pooled in your eyes. Never in your life had you felt more loved than in this moment. Your heart was full. You were having a baby.

You and Shawn were having a baby.
