Christmas was approaching and we may not be religious but his mum definitely was.
His mother invited us for Christmas again this year and I enjoyed the festivities that come along with it. I felt more hyped about the cakes his mum makes.
They were B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.
It tasted better than heaven and softer than a cloud. I felt myself drool at the thought of it.
Turning the corner of their house, we see lights and deers decorating their front garden, the same as last time yet so refreshing.
His mother opened the door with a blooming smile, arms open and full of joy.
"Hi! How are you?!" She enclosed me in a warm, motherly hug. I giggled and gave my greetings. He also gave her a hug and we went inside.
Walking in, the smell of food grabbed our attention, the festivities exploding. His little brother came running with a toy gun, pretending we're zombies.
I played along and held my hand on my chest, as if shot. We laughed and his mum led us to the kitchen after we took our shoes and coats off.
"So how's work? Still working in the bakery?"
"Yeah of course, i brought you some brownies" as I said that, i took out a box full of treats. "This will be nothing compared to your cakes though."
"Oh, but they're still very delicious. I'm very glad you both could come over."
"How's dad? Where is he?"
"He's upstairs in the bathroom, taking a long time as usual." We all smiled in understanding and sat down at the table to wait for him.
This was a brunch meal with lots of traditional food on the table. And of course there's the irresistible cake. Mmmhhh~
His dad finally arrived in his ironed shirt, smelling of cologne.
"Ah! Great of you to join us!" His mum spoke and ushered him to the table. There was a few small talks before it became quiet.
"Why is no one talking?" His little brother Symon spoke in his adorable voice.
"Yes, why isn't anyone talking?" His mum parrotted. He shrugged and i just smiled, taking another bite of my special sandwich.
As much as it's lovely visiting, there are a few awkward moments. I turn to my baby and nudge his leg with my foot. He looks at me with an eyebrow raised and i smile, playing footsies.
He grabs my leg with both of his and i look down, almost blushing like a tomato. Christmas isn't much different from normal visits, it just includes gifts and special food that tastes amazing like usual.
We got to after our big dinner where we open all the presents. Only a few years ago i never got to enjoy gifts, i only ever gave, but this gave a really warm feeling in my heart. It made me snuggle up to my baby on the sofa.
Symon opened his presents first, being ecstatic with his transformers toys and a mini pool table!
"Wow, you're very lucky symon! Are you going to play pool with me later?" I asked and he nodded. He went on to tell me how to play (even though i knew) while his dad opened his presents. He got a few clothes and another cologne which he seemed casual about but deep down inside everyone knew he was happy.
It came to his turn and he opened his parents present first since i asked him to open mine later. He got a few gift sets and when i opened mine, so did I with a new set of nail polishes!
After a warm coffee session between his mum and I, plus the boys setting up the pool table, my dear and I went upstairs to his old room and decided to open each others presents.
I gave him his, which he seemed very intrigued by the size. He started opening the present and i couldn't help but smile...
