Chapter 12

Months have passed and I've gotten use to things while I'm living with Chise and Elias. Chise has became my teacher on magic, telling me what she knows, and I am trying my best to help out Elias.

Then, I was called by Lindel's familiar, saying that it was time for me to get a wand. So, Chise, Elias, Ruth, Leo, and I went back to the land of dragons to meet Lindel.

"Training? What kind of training?" I ask Lindel.

The moment we got there, Lindel was happy to see all of us and he was surprised that I got a familiar of my own.

"You're a mage, technically. Which means you need to practice your magic so you can be ready for your wand." Lindel smiles and leads me near a huge tree. A tree that was once a dragon. The roots are huge and the branches reaches up to the cliff. "Before you are able to make your own wand, you must understand your magic and the meaning of it. That's why the land of dragons is a perfect place to practice. It's a very wide space. Nothing can go wrong."

"O-Okay." I was a bit nervous to practice my magic. All I have been doing is spells. And that one time I summoned the dead in the land of cats. I don't think I can do anything else like Chise and Elias. But I can always try.

"Try thinking of something that you enjoy." Lindel said. Like that isn't hard enough. But I guess I can give it a try. "Just clear your mind and relax, Piper. You can do it." Lindel smiles at me.

Something that I enjoy?... What should I think about? What do I enjoy? I like warmth... I want to be loved again... I want to be healed from this scarred curse that I call a past within me.

As I closed my eyes, blue fire raises up from the grass and started to form into a field of flowers with birds chirping and the wind blowing with ease.

It was Peace. That what I liked the most. No monsters around. No screaming. Blood. Bone breaking. Or flesh tearing. That's what I enjoyed more than anything.

Peace.

After I opened my eyes, I held out my finger and the blue fire-like bird landed on it. It made me feel calm.

"Well done, Piper. You managed to control your power. This time, you didn't panic or cry. I'm proud of you." Lindel smiles at me. "Good job."

"Thank you, Mr. Lindel." I smile back a little.

"Now then, onto the next part of your training. You have to be careful about how much magic you use and you absorb. If you absorb or use too much, you will die. Understand?" He says and I nod my head. "Good. In order to maintain your magic abilities, you need a wand. You will have to carve your own wand. There is no rush. Just take your time."

"Right." I nod my head again. Lindel, Elias, Chise, Ruth, and Leo watch me as I practice my magic.

My main specialty is the blue flames and the crystals, like Chise creates sometimes. I was a bit nervous because everyone was watching me. I felt like I was being tested or something. Actually, I was. I managed to summon the Fae and other creatures.

"Piper, look out!" Chise warns me. I look over to my left and see one of those killing creatures coming at me. It clings itself ontp my shoulder and I stay completely still. If I speak to it, it will get to me. I have to keep my mouth shut. "We have to help her!"
