Love you guys, happy reading! xxxx

They are moving slowly, a little too slowly for Scott's liking. Scott knew Mitch was hurt and needed a bitmore time than the rest of the group. He needs to take it easy. Scott was fine with that, honestly, but he hadn't counted on Mitch stopping to ask about every little thing along the way. Slow he could deal with, but slow and annoying, that is past his humanity limit.

"Scott, what is that?" Scott groans as he, for what feels like the hundredth time, turns towards Mitch to answer him.

"It's a tree," he deadpans. He hears Kevin snicker at him, but Mitch just pouts.

"I know that, silly. I meant, what kind of tree is it?"

"How the fuck should I know? Do I look like a tree expert to you? Jesus Christ. I'm not a fucking teacher." Scott stomps away before he can see the look on Mitch's face.

The boys reluctantly follow Scott, leaving Mitch behind. Kirstin spares him a glance, their eyes locking for a split second before she turns around with her head hung low and a sad smile, to follow the boys.

Mitch stares at Scott's back as it moves further and further away, willing himself not to cry. All he wanted was to know what the pretty tree was called.

Mitch sits down on the soft moss under the tree with no name. He doesn't want to walk anymore. He brings his knees to his chest, curling into a small ball, getting lost in his own thoughts. Scott is angry with him. Mitch feels bad for slowing them down. He never meant to make him snap like that.

He knows deep down that they didn't really want Mitch to join them. Scott probably only asked him to be polite, hoping Mitch would say no. Mitch feels an overwhelming sadness in his heart. He really likes Scott, despite only knowing him for a brief time. Scott is surprisingly complex for a human and Mitch finds it fascinating. Mitch does feel quite strange around the man sometimes though, but so far, he has just brushed it off as he's just not used to being around people yet.

"Mitch?" He jumps, startled, and feels a bit stupid when he looks up and sees Scott standing over him. Mitch should have heard him coming.

"What?" Mitch sniffles as he wipes away a small tear that stubbornly manages to escape. He refuses to look at Scott. He sighs as he carefully sits down next to Mitch, who is still slightly sniffling.

"Are you alright? I didn't mean to snap at you like that, and I definitely didn't mean to make you cry." Mitch looks up at him but doesn't respond to his question. The hurtful look on his face says it all for him.

"I'm sorry for being such an ass. I'll try to control myself in the future. Can you forgive me?"

Scott looks strange like this, all insecure and small looking. Mitch doesn't like it.

"I can forgive you. I'm sorry for slowing you all down so much and for asking all of those questions. I guess I got a bit carried away."

"Mitch, you don't have to apologise for that. You can't help it that you're hurt and it's perfectly alright to be curious, just... maybe save some of the questions for later, okay?"

"I can do that. I'll try at least." He grins sheepishly at Scott causing him to let out a soft chuckle.

"That's all I ask. Now we should probably go and find the others before they continue without us." He pats Mitch's thigh lightly as he stands up and Mitch blushes as his body heats up at the feeling.
