(Nicole’s POV)
As I was waiting for someone to answer the front door, I heard indistinct yelling coming from the other side. It wasn't like Death to be yelling at people. I wondered what she was arguing about.
The door opens and it honestly almost catches me off guard. "Oh. Nicole. What brings you here?" Death had a smile on her face but I could see the tired look in her eyes.
"Faye wanted me to give this to you." I hold up an envelope with her name on it.
"Thank you so much." She carefully takes the envelope out of my hand.
Being the nosy person that I am, I peeked into the living room of Death's house. There was a bunch of things on the floor, a ripped pillow on the couch, and a knocked over glass with a spill next to it. This was abnormal. Death's house was always the cleanest thing ever. (I swear there was never a time where I was blinded by how shiny everything was.)
"Sooo...What's going on?" I ask trying to be subtle as possible but also trying to get the answer I want out of her.
"Cecil’s been giving me a lot of trouble lately." She said while shaking her head. Death just looked like a disappointed parent.
"Why?" I ask wondering how that little brat could possibly cause any problems for anybody. Especially, someone like the deadly assassin Death.
"I'm just having a hard time training her." An instant light bulb went on in my head.
"I can train her!" I screamed with a super amount of excitement for no real real reason at all. I think I might've caused her to go temporarily deaf because she just stood there, looking at me as if she didn't understand.
"I don't know, Nicole." She finally says after a short moment.
"C'mon, Death. You know that I'm the ‘Master of Discipline.’ I could totally help you out." I tried convincing her.
"I'm not sure if..." I quickly dropped down to my knees, stuck out my lower lip, and held my hands up like I was praying.
"Please." I batted my eyelashes for extra effect.
"What if..." I suddenly grab onto her leg and pretend to ball my eyes out.
"Please! Please! Please!”
"Alright, alright! I'll let you do it. Now, let go of me." (Somebody give me an award for best performance.) I released her leg and got off the ground.
"Thank you so much. I promise you that Cecil will be the most well-behaved dog in the whole world.” Death gives me a bit of a concerned look. Probably because she knew about my bad habit for being (a bit) reckless. (And sometimes dangerous.) "Don't worry. Nothing bad will happen." I say reassuring her.
"I hope so." She says under her breath like she was already regretting this decision.
"Take me to her. We need to get started immediately." I had little patience and couldn’t wait.
"Alright, come in. She's in our room."
I walk into the house and make my way to their bedroom. She was sitting on the bed, ripping up what looked like what used to be a shirt. She gave me a stare of despise once she noticed me.
"What are you doing here?" She says with a very spiteful attitude.
"Death wanted me to train you." I stated and she didn’t seem very happy about it."Pfft. You train me? Yeah, right." She rolls her eyes at me then goes back to ripping the shirt.
"She's a feisty one." I said to myself, but Death thought I was talking to her.
