(Candice's POV)
I got up went straight for the lady's room. When I entered, my ears were assaulted by the sound of some intense puking coming from one of the stalls. Considering I was the only other person in this bathroom, I knew exactly who it was. I knocked on the last stall door and it got quiet for a least a moment."If you're not dead, say something." She groaned like a zombie. (At least she was alive.) "You better have food poisoning and not be pregnant. I swear I'll kick your elf ass." I was only semi-kidding when I said that.
"Shut up and call for an ambulance."
"Alright, I'll be back. Gonna tell the boys what happened." I walked back to our table. Confusion was was written all over my face when I saw Cecil sitting in my brother's lap. "What the hell? I'm gone for less than two minutes and this is what I come back to see. Don't tell me that this is your way of coming out of the closet."
"Ha. Ha." He said in the most unamused tone possible. "No. He looked soft and cuddly. I wanted to touch." Couldn't blame him. We dragon hybrids actually have a real bad weakness for small and cute things. We can't help but to want to touch/hold it.
"That is by far the gayest thing I've ever heard come out of your mouth." I told him. I then looked down at Cecil. "And you willingly agreed to do this." I had to make sure Dean wasn't actually holding the poor dog hostage.
"Mm. Hm." He nodded. My brother might not be gay, but Cecil definitely was. He was probably having the time of his life right now. His tail was even shaking.
"Anyways, back on topic. Nicole is about cough up a lung in there. She wants to go to the hospital."
"Did you call for an ambulance?" Dean asked.
"No. I was distracted by you two suddenly becoming gay lovers." I said while pulling out my phone and dialing 911.
So, now we're at the hospital. Listening to the doctor tell us what we already knew. She has food poisoning and there's nothing severely wrong with her. Dean and I stood by her bed and Cecil held up on my side. I, with a straight face said,
"Told you so." I adjusted Cecil some 'cause he was starting to slide off of my slide. "So, what are we going to do with him?"
"Well, I can't take him home. So, I'll call Death to pick him up here." This made me a little sad 'cause I wanted to spend more time with the little guy. Nicole made the call but there was no answer at first. She tries three more times before finally getting a response. None of us could actually tell what the conservation was about but it probably wasn't anything good. Nicole's surprised facial expression said it all.
(Nicole's POV)
After Death finally pick up the phone and said hello, it was pretty much downhill from there. "Hey, I was going to drop Cecil off today but I got food poisoning. You think you could come get him?""I would. If I wasn't in such a terrible condition myself."
"What do you mean? What happened?"
"To put it simply, I got struck with a poisonous dart and I can't feel the entire left half of my body." What truly bewildered me was the fact that Death was the calmest person on earth.
"Oh My gosh! You're not gonna die, are you?!" Is what I was gonna say, but Cecil was still right next to me. He would've thrown a fit if he heard me say that. "Is everything gonna be alright?" Is what I actually said.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I should be able to properly move in the next day or two. Can you do me a favor and not tell Cecil about this. He gets really very emotional when he sees me hurt. I don't want my baby to start crying over the phone." Another wow. I didn't Cecil could be such a sensitive drama queen. (Actually, maybe I did.) "Just tell him that I'm very busy at work and I can't leave." It was a cliche lie but hell as long as it worked I didn't care.
"Okay. Anything else?" I asked before hanging up. I also looked over at the small dog and he already looked kinda worried.
"Yes, tell my baby I love him."
"Okay. Bye." I hung up my cellphone and everyone was staring at me, waiting for me to say something. It was about the creepiest thing ever.
"So, what she say?" Candice finally took the liberty of asking.
"She's too caught up at work, meaning...she can't come get him."
"Is she hurt?" The question shot out of Cecil's mouth like a bullet. (What's he got? A sixth sense or something?)
"No, just busy." I told him.
"So, how come she didn't want talk to me? Mommy always has something to say to me, even when she's busy." Jeez. What's with all the questions. I'm only the messenger.
"Not this time, but she did have a little bit of time to say she loves you." Now stop asking me things.
"Okay." He said in a low tone before burying his face into Candice's side. He looked like one of kids who always want something but is always told no.
"Can we go home now? I'm getting little tired and I wanna take a nap." Candice whined. (Wow, I didn't realize there were two little kids in the room.)
"No, we still have to figure what we were going to with him. Remember Nicole can't leave." Dean answered for me.
"Why can't you just rip out the IV catheter and leave." Candice said like the actual crazy person she might be.
"Don't listen to her. She's missing several brain cells." Dean added on. His sister punched him in arm for that. He acted like it didn't hurt, but still rubbed the spot.
"I guess one of you will have to watch him for the night. And by one of you I meant for Dean. " Considering what happened the last time the two were left alone, I wasn't taking any chances.
"I wish I could help out, but you know, I got a kid to look after. And even if I didn't, Ro..." Candice intentionally faked coughed to interrupt Dean. He was about to say his wife's name in front of her. "I mean my wife isn't isn't a fan of dogs either."
"Yeah, she's a racist bitch too." Dean purposely stomped on his sister's foot.
"Ow!" She was about two seconds from decking him in the face. She stopped herself, probably cause we still in a hospital and she still had Cecil on her side. "So, that only leaves person left. Me." Candice said, suddenly ignoring the pain she was just in. I mentally prayed for nothing bad to happen. I let out a sigh of both regret and disappointment before speaking.
"(Unfortunately) you're right. But just cause you're watching him, doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Got it?" I sounded almost like a parent talking to her.
"I know. Me and this little guy are gonna have plenty of fun together." There she goes with that devious smirk. She even slid her finger under his chin in a rather seductive matter.
"Candice, I mean it! No screwing around. He's not a damn toy."
"I heard you the first time. Gosh, I can be a trusted and responsible adult sometimes." Yeah, the sometimes part is what I'm worried about.
"Okay, I guess you guys can leave now." I told them.
"Finally! C'mon Dean, let's go." Candice sped walk her way towards the exit. I didn't like how she was in a rush to leave.
"Bye." I said after everyone basically already left the room.
