"tae," hoseok softly nudges taehyung.
"ugh, five more minutes, hyung," taehyung mumbles out sleepily.
"and five more seconds until the teacher stands in front of you," hoseok whispers back.
this leads to taehyung bolting up and starting to listen to the teacher lecturing on about the roots of numbers.
are numbers trees now? taehyung thinks to himself.
as taehyung finally realizes that his brain is functioning once again, he realizes what scene occurred before coming into the math class.
"what is wrong with me?!?" taehyung yells out of frustration.
all of the students turn to taehyung's direction. And the teacher begins to turn around as well.
"is there something you would like to share to the class, taehyung?" mr. lee asks lifting an eyebrow above his glasses.
taehyung is stunned and begins to panic.
"n-no, sir," taehyung manages to stutter out.
the subject is brushed off (aside from the giggles echoing around the room). with that, the brush of embarrassment is evident on taehyung's face.
out of all the times you could be on my mind, you choose now, jeongguk, the young boy thinks to himself.
the class goes on as normal. embarrassment still on taehyung's face, but he bares with it.
~
the bell rings loudly, waking up the students that snoozed as well as the need of food for taehyung. but he does not say anything, since lunch is only a few periods away.
instead, he rushes out of mr. lee's classroom, but hoseok catches up to him.
"what happened back there, tae?" hoseok questions.
"it's nothing, hyung," tae mumbles loud enough for hoseok to hear.
hoseok looks at tae with doubt.
"you're horrible at lying, boo," hoseok jokes.
a crimson shade appears on the younger of the two's face. the two reach their lockers and hoseok decides to drop the subject for now. he doesn't want to walk around with a tomato all day.
tae then walks to his second period. this period is a lonely period for him. he has no friends during this period. if anything, he only has small talk with a girl named sooyoung. she was a sweet girl, taehyung just wasn't comfortable enough around her.
jeongguk is in the class, but as said before, the two do not talk much anymore. but talking to him was a scary thought to tae, still recollecting the memories from this morning.
this class is biology. mrs. kung's. the class that the poor boy is failing in. the grade that is pulling down his precious gpa.
"hello, students!" Mrs. Kung chirps, "today we will be discussing your end of the quarter projects."
the end of the 2nd semester was coming near, and taehyung only had a few more months to bring his grade up. the end of 3rd quarter project. 'tis the project that costs more than 40% of the grades.
of course, the only enthusiastic person in the room was mrs. kung.
groans and whines started to make an appearance through the room. the same sounds coming from taehyung.
"so, this project will be done individually," mrs. kung continues, "but a friend or classmate to help might be needed during it all. i will not assign groups or partners."
she stops for a little while to let her words sink into the minds of the students. she begins another sentence once again.
"the project will be based on the structure of dna," a smile spreads on Mrs. Kung's face, "please be sure to become creative in your projects. presenting your projects will give you extra credit."
after the lecture, mrs. kung provides the due date, leaving only 4 weeks for the students to work on the project.
taehyung looks around the classroom, with the feeling of worry and nervousness in his delicate eyes.
on the other hand, jeongguk could worry less about the project in all. what worried him was how taehyung could recover from the project.
with that, the teacher ends her lecture and lets the students go on to do what they want. taehyung hurriedly starts to research. mrs. kung passed out an outline for the students to follow, and taehyung starts immediately to make sure he doesn't miss anything important.
after the teacher dismissed the students to work on anything in her classroom, jeongguk started making his way over the taehyung's desk. but that plan backfired as people started to swarm the around him.
"oppa!" a girl squeals, "will you help me with the project?"
"um... i don't think i'll have the time. and please stop calling me oppa as well," jeongguk tries to sound less bitter than what he was feeling.
the crowd around him simmers down, but jeongguk's thoughts beat him to Taehyung.
he hates me, his mind trails off as he walks back to his seat, sulking.
