Chapter 1
-------------
Pregnant clouds hung in the sky, the slight drizzle promising of things to come. The sky reflected the mood of the people on the ground. Somber and dark.
He sat in the wheel chair as he looked at the graves of his mother and the man he considered his brother. He has insisted they go out despite the weather, someone was holding an umbrella above his head but he barely noticed. Emotions swirling inside him like the storm that was about to unleash upon them.
The wind had picked up, the weather was going to deteriorate rapidly, the guards looked at each other but no one dared to speak up.
He just sat there staring at the tombstone, with a feeling of surrealness it was as if he went to sleep and when he got up half his family had disappeared.
The drizzle was now converting in to a rain, they really had to go inside. The head of detail hesitated for a moment and looked at her.
She stood grim faced a few feet behind the wheelchair, she refused an umbrella, the rain gently caressing her skin, she knew then needed to go back in, the weather was turning for the worst and Max had not fully recovered.
"leave us" she instructed to the security detail and without questions the guards drew back, nobody dared to question her. She was the final word.
She took the umbrella from the guard who was holding it for Max as she came closer and continued to hold it.
Max had not reacted to the drama around him, he did not even notice.
"Max" Evelyn whispered softly as she put her hand gently on his shoulder. The touch reeled him back from whatever state he had been stuck in and as the warmth from her hand seeped in to him.
His body started shaking from the deep sobs that erupted, the dam finally broke and as if in agreement heavens finally let loose, the rain pounded the ground. Drenching them both in their sorrows.

Evelyn had shortly arrived with Max to the palace from the family crypt. He had been put back to bed where he had promptly passed out, the doctor came in to check him up and advised her to keep him indoors for a while.
Max was weak, not regaining his strength. When Max had regained consciousness, they had celebrated until they realized he was not regenerating fast like a werewolf, instead he was behaving like a human would. After some tests and talking to Max the doctor concluded that his wolf was dormant for some reason and he hypothesized that it would be a matter of time that his wolf would show up, but until then he should be put through a careful regiment. By virtue of him being in coma for so long all his muscles had gone stiff and until his wolf showed up and his wolf genes kicked him to repair his body he need to be dealt with like any normal human patient, so he was prescribed physiotherapy to get used to his limbs again. He got tired easily and he was exhausted most of the time.
The shock of Evelyn's life came in when she could not connect with him after he woke up, she felt the connection come back to life from the nonexistent state it had been in all this while. But instead of slamming in back full force it was like a trickle, stronger than previous but very faint. When she touched him, she felt the familiar tingles when one touches a mate but again they were very subdued.
Her wolf did not understand what was happening and had gone crazy and has retreated to a corner of her mind not knowing how to deal with it, terrified of the lack of connection to her other half.
