Junior
I woke up to what felt like someone violently punching my right eye, just to realize that somehow, Dave's foot had found its way into my face. Blinded by the sunlight and what was a respective hangover, considering the little I remembered of the previous night was a lot of booze, I lifted his leg up and as far away from me as I could. Which wasn't very far, but it was out of my eye. He seemed to be fast asleep, his face mashed into the back of the seat, and breathing kind of weirdly, come to think of it. Rattling breaths, like he was choking on something, but how could he possibly be... his eyes shot open, and in a failed attempt to inhale, he sort of heave-choked before frantically pawing at the door handle. He had barely gotten the door open when he rolled onto his stomach and hurled onto the asphalt of the parking lot. Then he layed there for a while, and even though I was concerned about him, I couldn't move without getting a throbbing pain in my forehead. He slowly pulled himself back into the car and closed the door. I think he tried to tell me something, but it came out as a pained grumble as he sank back into his seat. He turned his head to look at me and gave me an annoyed scowl before looking away. "Why do you always have to be everywhere?" Sounds like someone wasn't in the best mood this morning. I snorted and looked the other direction. If he wants to play this game, we can. As usual, Dave couldn't stay quiet or still for long so it wasn't more than a few minutes before I felt his eyes burning the back of my head. "Hey." I could hear him huff a bit and fidget when I didn't react. "Hey!" Not wanting to give him the satisfaction of giving in to his childish bullshit, I stared out of the window and tried to ignore him. When I felt a warm breath on my neck, I had no choice but to acknowledge him. "Hm?" He ran his hand through my hair and rested his head on my shoulder. "Hey." Asshole. "Hey." His other hand crept up my back and reached around me, pulling me closer to him. I still didn't want to look at him but it was getting hard to resist. I couldn't help it anymore when I felt his lips touch my cheek. There he was in all his hungover glory, with those golden hazel eyes staring right into mine, and a smile slowly growing on his face. My breathing might've hitched for a moment, because even though I've seen that face thousands of times, seeing it right next to mine after a kiss on the cheek is completely different than seeing it anywhere else. Little did I know, that quite soon, I'd be seeing that face in many places I'd never imagine.
Well, I updated. This is kinda cheating because it's not a regular sized chapter but it's the only way I could include the element of suspense in at the end. And it'll make flowing into the next one easier. As you might've deduced, the following chapter will be, um, very interesting, to say the least. So that'll make up for this one being shorter 😏
