CHAPTER SIX

Heath

I watch Kyle head back to the house, but I don't really want to go inside yet.  You see, me and Hannah haven't really hung out too much lately with all the mission stuff going on. And we kind of have this twin intuition thing where we can connect without talking.  It's difficult to explain; it's only when we get any powerful or overwhelming emotions.  And we definitely can't control when it happens, so it's not like telepathy or anything.  I wish it was that simple though, because I would prefer we didn't share some things.  Anyways, she felt me..... miss her or whatever. So we both walked over to the willow to sit and talk.

When we get to the tree we both freeze.  A van pulls into the drive next door, what in the world?  We both sit as quiet as we can while we hear people walking into the house and turning on and off lights as they go.  After a little bit, we hear people come back outside and get back into the van and pull away.  I wonder what that was all about, but I'm glad we weren't still inside at least.  We both sit in silence for a while, probably waiting to see if any activity comes from the Kirkland's.  When the house stays quiet, Hannah can't keep quiet any longer I guess.

"Tonight was fun. I can't wait to hear the phone call tomorrow. I might try to stay up to see if they go off all three times or if the Kirklands figure it out," Hannah says trying to avoid the subject of the port-mail.

"Ya, it was.   I think it will probably be a while before we get to go anywhere after tomorrow morning though," I say with a smirk.

"Well, it isn't like we had much going on anyways.  Do you think Autumn is gonna be mad we didn't invite her?" Hannah asks after a while.

"Ya, probably.  But, oh well, wasn't our deal.  I just can't believe George was telling the truth.  Not that I think it's his family, but it does make me think it's a family's name that starts with K or C, you know."  Actually, I've been upset ever since I found it.  Maybe me and Kyle were wrong about all of this.

Hannah shoves me, which catches me off guard, "Oh, Heath, do you really think it is going to be all over before it's even begun? Don't give up so easy, wait til after Wednesday. Then we can start doubting or getting nervous or whatever."

I do love my sister sometimes.  "You're right.  Just surprised me that for once everything coming out of his mouth wasn't complete crap."

"I know, we may actually have to start listening to the little rooster," Hannah says with a smile.  "Callie is applying without her parents and it made me think about if I could leave mom and dad."

"I don't think I would want to go if we couldn't all go together."  Hannah answers after a second.

I hadn't really thought about it because the mission is specific that family is a must, but I wonder if I could leave my family.  I don't know; probably, but I wouldn't want to, that's for sure.  She looks at me questioningly. "I wouldn't go without you guys either, Hannah." I say to make her feel better. "Besides, it doesn't even matter, we are all going together if we do get to go, we already all decided."

We sit outside for a little longer, but the day's excitement has worn us both out so we head in before one.  When I get to my room, I switch on the I'bug's home screen, yes the link was successful and the filtering has begun.  It feels good to have access to everything that the Kirkland's do, at least.  I get in bed and set my alarm for nine. I have a feeling I won't be sleeping in that late, but hey, mom may wait to punish us until after we wake up.

9 : 02 am

I wake up to my alarm.  Well looks like mom was feeling courteous. I get dressed and head down the hall expecting to find mom and dad there discussing our latest antics, but to my surprise the kitchen is empty.  I walk into the living room and back down the hall, but no one else is up.  I go back to the kitchen to make something to eat, might as well, and I see the note on the fridge.
