Chapter FOURTEEN: Part One

The Trials: Round One
"Well, I'm just glad we decided to separate for the actual scavenger hunt part. I guess it won't matter if we share information with them and help each other like that, but we need to get all the 'actual stuff' on our own," I say to the others as we head towards the Main Beach to get a craft.
We went back to the Walker's cabin after breakfast; they actually had some good ideas, and we came up with a decent plan by working together with what we knew. You see, Terra did recognize a few of the words from the list. "Miti," she knew, was an old translation of the word tree and that "maji" also used to mean water. So from there we got our list and the map out and compared what that told us.
The first hunt item had the word "miti" in the clue, "Hint: qi Mbingu Mitis."
So, we figured that had to mean whatever we needed to find for the first item would be around the trees, on the trees or had 'to do' with trees somehow. We also figured out what the last item was and what we needed to do altogether.
5) "Cut down a miti from one of the surrounding isles, excluding Main Island, and find a way to get it back to the Main Shore."
We had to cut down a tree from one of the surrounding isles and somehow get it to the Main Beach. Both families decided that task would require a craft, so we took that into consideration when planning. But, hey, at least we knew what we needed to do for one of the items now; only four left to go.
Then for the second clue, "Hint: tafuta maji pangos." We knew it had something to do with water, but it was actually Autumn who realized that connection by the sketch of the map she drew yesterday. The closest isle is named Ma-pango Kisiwa, or South Isle. And it can't be a coincidence that the word "pango" is in the clue for an item, so maybe what we need is in the water at the isle, or something along those lines, anyways. We at least had a train of thought for the second scavenger item.
Finally, it was Heath who ran across the last piece of vital information we discovered today. He had been in and out of the huge, old book since we got it, and he pointed to a translation about three paragraphs down on one of the text-filled pages of definition and translations, '"Mbingu Mitis" are what the Mibharians named their most precious type of Sequoia tree. They are some of the largest in the world and literally mean "Sky Trees" and are located on Makubwa Kisiwa, also known as East Isle to modern scientists. They believed they were sacred and even had some unique traditions related them.'
It doesn't go into any more detail because it switches back to their native writing, but that's all the information we need to make a move. Whatever we are looking for with the first item is on East Isle and it has to do with their Sky Trees in some way. And since they are pretty much the biggest trees ever, they shouldn't be too hard to locate!
We decide that we are going to get a craft and go to East Isle to check out the Sky Trees for the first item and to get a tree of our own to complete the last item on the scavenger hunt list. We figure, since East Isle holds some of the biggest trees, it will have plenty of others to choose from.
Hethyre and Terra decide their family is going to check out South Isle and look for water. They are going to take the book with them to see if they find any ideas of what the second item might be. Plus, we have no idea what's on South Isle, and it's the closest distance, so they won't have to waste one of their craft days to go there either.
