Much to my dismay, I did end up stepping on the blue mat. But while the others performed, I stayed hidden in the back. That is until the very end when Addison pulled me up besides her. I didn't particularly like it. Something about humans cheering at me, not yelling...it was weird.

"I hope you know, I can't just stop the Revolution." I say to Zed. We're currently sitting on the roof of my house. An action I've forbidden Laken from doing until she becomes a teenager. "I won't destroy anymore property or hold any riots, but there is still so much that needs to change."

"I know." Zed replies. "You can't give up on your mom, I understand. Just...be smart about it, okay?"

I turn to look at him. I watch as he gazes at the stars, watch the way his eyes shine in the night. "Zed...thank you." He turns to me. "This entire time we've been fighting and standing on different sides, but you still stayed by me. You could've left me, but you didn't. Thank you."

He grabs my hand, tangling our fingers together. "I told you, this means everything to me. I'm not going to let you go." I smile, leaning my forehead on his. Our lips touch briefly, just the slightest of kisses. When we pull away, Zed smiles at me, turning back to the sky.

"I love you." I quietly tell him.

"What's not to love?"

I roll my eyes at him. "What happened to being humble?" He laughs, wrapping an arm around my shoulder and pulling me into his side.
