Come Again

Chapter 3: "Love you"

 Andrew slowly placed his hand under my head that was still resting on his shoulder and peeled my head off of him. "Nu- Naomi I think I should go now...", he said, I just nodded as I brought my knees to my chest. He then quietly made his way to his car, slamming the door I could hear the engine purr after he inserted his key and put it into ignition. The lights of his car started to fade the further he backed out. Before I could let out a complete breath, I started to choke on the sobs I was finally able to let out. I didn't expect to be broken up with today, "I knew I should've stayed home.", I thought as I put my face into the palms of my hands. Suddenly I felt my phone vibrate several times, I then reached into my left pocket of my denim jacket and felt nothing there, before I could reached my right pocket the buzzing stopped. "Shit", I mumbled. Slowly I reached into my right pocket and grasped my phone and clicked the button on the side to turn on my phone. My body jolted back from the sudden brightness from the screen. "Oh god!" I yelled with a couple tears still running down my face as my eyes scanned the screen that read: "12 unread messages from Mom, 3 missed calls from Mom". My thumb glided across the screen and revealed the messages my mom had left for me.

Mom: Take the chicken out of the freezer to let it thaw

Mom: oh and do the dishes

Mom: Hellooo?

Mom: Come upstairs

Mom: Whoops forgot you left...

Mom: Having fun?

Mom: god use a condom my child

Mom: always use protection!

Mom: Should I buy birth control pills?

Mom: And soon you won't have a period! Great right?

Mom: Helloo?

Mom: Your step dad and I are going out don't come home too late love you

I let out a breath of relief glad knowing my ass wasn't going to get a whooping. Glancing at the time it was already 9:30, shaking my head I had no idea how I was going to get home, and I wasn't trying to risk walking home in the dark! Like... yes, I'm 16, scared of the dark, and house spiders. "URUGHUEHEUEHUEHEUEHUEHEUH", I yelled out to the night sky. In that moment I realized I might have powers because my phone started to ring the second I opened my mouth. I looked at my blaring phone with the caller ID that said, "Vea>.<". God I was lucky, I'm telling you blessed! How did I just go through a break up and not tell my best friend. Quickly I swiped right to answer her call. "GURR-", exclaimed Vea on the other line, "Vea... Can you come get me... Andrew and I-", before I could finish Vea continued with what her point was, "GURRL I JUST GO... got-t... BITCH I'M ON MY WAY, AND YES I KNOW YOU'RE AT THE GLIMPSE I KNOW YOU B!", she then quickly hung up before I could say anything. I smiled at the thought that Vea already knew where I was. Sitting there, I curled up into a ball like a little kid that didn't get their way as it started to get a bit chilly. Soon I then saw headlights that shone from behind. Quickly I stood up as I saw Vea speeding in her parents minivan. As she started to come close to me she came to an abrupt stop, at that moment I saw her head violently jerk back and hit the seat. Rolling down the window she yelled,"GET IN THE CAR BITCH!". Running to the passenger side, pulling on the handle the door was locked. Vea was giving the look like "bitch hurry up" but the door is freaking locked. She then realized it was locked and unlocked it so I could hop into the van. The minute I was in she put the gear into reverse and we sped off.

"So what you're telling me is that he broke up with you, then wants to do that lovey dovey thingy and then leave? And Lia! Why was he looking at her the whole time?", Vea asked. "Yep. And what do you mean "why?" we all know he likes her... who doesn't? I'm just glad she's not like someone stuck up, she's actually genuinely nice, and naturally pretty..." I said as I just thought about what I didn't have compared to her. I mean think about it... I suck at sports, I take AP because I think I'm smart, and she just beats me in practically everything. "Hey now you can find a new man! Think about it... like have you been through like your "white boy" phase?", Vea asked. I just facepalmed myself. "So is that a no?", she asked. I just slightly scoffed and laughed at her,"I don't need anyone Vea! We just broke up like what an hour ago? Plus who said I hate the guy?", I paused and thought maybe I should hate him," scratch that..". At first I had no idea where we were going, but knowing Vea we were probably either going to get ice cream, or heading to his house so she could beat his ass, but it was most likely we were going for ice cream.

We approached the Mcdonald's and ordered a bunch of stuff you'd probably want on your period, but 2x that. As Vea ordered the food the guy seemed surprised and said." Wow big family in there, huh?", we just laughed and said "sureee". Pulling up to the window I found myself in an awkward situation. The guy standing at the window was a kid named Aiden who had a huge crush on me and had no trouble hiding it. "I know it's not what you expected, we're not a family... bear us my friend here just went through a break up!" Vea said not realizing who it was. "Nuu?" asked Aiden. "Don't call me that!", I said annoyed as I rolled my eyes. Only people I was close to called me that, and Aiden... he tries way too hard to be close to me. "So yall broke up finally! So maybe I cou-" in the middle of his sentence Vea stepped in,"Um no, not a chance little boy and do us a favor and pass us our food!". He rudely threw the two large bags of food at Vea. My jaw dropped as I saw Vea do the same. "As I was sayi-", he tried to finish, but like always no."Bitch fight me!" Vea screamed. "Vea come on!" I yelled. She then threw a twenty dollar bill at his face and sped off towards my house. "Little crazy ass will just not give up will he?" she said as she scoffed.

"Vea you're a real one, but I really think I just need to go lay in bed a literally cry until I'm over this." I said hoping she'd understand."I know, you go eat your food and watch netflix" she said as she quickly gave me a hug. I the grab the bag of food that's mine and thank her for everything and make my way to the front door.

Making my way to the front porch, I inserted my house key into the knob, but struggled to open the door as always. I was able to unlock the door, but it took awhile before I could pry the key out of the door. I pulled and wiggled hoping it'd slip out, until finally it did. Slamming the door, I kicked off my shoes to the side and headed down the stairs straight to my room. Opening my door I could still smell the scent of my perfume that I spritzed on earlier as I entered the room. I let my back fall the floor and plopped right onto my bed as the headboard hit the wall. I had laid on the bed only thinking of all the things I didn't have, "What more could I lose", I mumbled to myself as I drifted off to sleep.

Running further and further I felt as if I was falling, but someone kept me up until I set off something, I paused as I saw the figure fade from a distance. I curiously looked around and wondered why the sound had sound so familiar. That's when I woke up from my dream. I turned to my side to see my phone blaring. It stopped buzzing after a few vibrations. Glancing at the time it was 3:55 AM and I had 45 missed calls. Sitting up quickly, I unlocked my phone to see who all the calls were from. I had calls from several random numbers, and bunch of my family members. I just couldn't grasp onto what was happening. My phone began to ring again this time another random number. Immediately, I answered and put the phone to my ear."Hello, is this Naomi Le?", said someone on the other line sounding kind of urgent. "Yes." I said nervously. "I'm sorry to say this but your parents have gotten into an awful accident and... well .... they had gotten so severely injured that when they needed our help the most their bodies gave out, and we hadn't made it in time. I'm sorry to say they're gone. I sat there in complete silence thinking about what he just said. "I'm just dreaming, dreaming", I thought to myself, but I knew everything happening right now wasn't any joke. "Mam a couple of your family members are here taking care of the situation and I recall one of them on their way to get you, see you then.", said the caller. My whole body started to ache, as a heat of wave washed over me once again tears started pouring like there was no tomorrow.  I stumbled out of bed and sprinted up the stairs and out the door. All I could think of were the last words I heard leave my mothers mouth, "Love you".
