The door to the office chimes followed by chatter.

"Well, you could have told me there was someone standing behind me!" A female voice said sounding defensive.

"What? And miss you making a fool of yourself? Not a Chance!" This time a male speaks and his laughter flows into the office before the two figures step in.

Mr. White smiles as his Nephew and his new hired employ walk in with Starbucks mugs engaged in conversation. His nephew looks healthier and more alive then he did a few month ago, thought Mr. White, This is very good. Very good indeed.

"I see you two had an eventful weekend." Mr. White speak drawing both Keath and Kathy's attention to him.

"Yes, it was eventful watching Kathy lagging behind one of the easiest hikes in the area." Keath laughs as he sits in one of the chairs facing Mr. White's desk, knowing they are going to have a business meeting before they can continue with their work.

"Hey!" Kathy says still standing, "I was admiring the view and I wasn't the one lagging when only ten minutes from the finish."

Kathy sits down triumphantly as Keath sulks in his chair and mumbles, "I stepped on a thorn."

Mr. White intervenes, "Are we ready to start this week? It's going to be a challenging one."

Keath and Kathy's attention focuses fully on their boss, both in business mode.

"I have some bad news. The board refused the place we chose." Mr. White states.

Immediately Keath and Kathy are sitting up in their chairs voicing their disagreement, "What? How could they?" "What could they possibly find wrong?"

Mr. White holds up his hand. Both of them go quiet. Mr. White walks around his desk sitting down in his chair.

"What do we do?" Kathy asks.

"Start from square one." Mr. White answers.

Keath huffs in annoyance, "That place was perfect and they know it."

"Well, I guess that's a months work down the drain." Kathy states feeling as lost as her business partners. It's the worst feeling when you put so much work into something thinking it's almost perfect than someone just takes it a destroys it and buries it to rest and die.

"I don't know what to tell you other than try again." Mr. White said giving Keath and Kathy almost an 'I'm sorry' look.

Kathy lets out a breath letting all her frustration out, for it will do no good to waste emotions and time on someone else's option which she has no control of.

She looks to an annoyed Keath, "Well we should get to work. We have a lot ahead of us." Kathy smiled at Keath hoping he would catch her playful tone to cheer him up but he just looks back into her eyes with frustration and fury.

Kathy reaches out to touch Keath's arm. "Hey, the best way to not let them win is to not give up. Almost like when you wouldn't give up pelting a poor girl with tomatoes until she was bruised."

Keath's eyebrows relaxed and his lips turned up, showing his change of mood, "I can't believe you are still bringing that up. And you didn't complain about bruises until two days after so I have my suspicions of where they came from. I imagine you clumsily tripping over nothing." Keath laughs as he gets up out of his chair to leave the office, the anger from the previous conversation momentarily gone.

"I am not clumsy! I have great balance thank you very much!" Kathy deny's following him out.

"Oh right. How about the time you bumped into the open door? Or when you missed a step hiking and almost face planted? Or-" Keath said as he was walking to his desk. He was cut off when an office pillow was thrown at him.

Mr. White closes his office door laughing to himself. Those two. He thinks as he shakes his head. He was so glad his Nephew at least has a friend since the office mishap. He sighs as he sits in his chair and looks at his work to do. He hated that there were two talented young people in the next room working hard and putting trust into him. But unfortunately he was afraid his transgressions may affect their life.

...........

"Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..." An indescribable noise comes out of Kathy as she has her head resting on her fist while scrolling with the other not finding what she needed on google.

Slam! Kathy's eyes shoot up to find Keath closed his computer harshly, "Okay I think we need a break otherwise I'm gonna break something and you are the closest and most annoying thing at the moment." He stretches his arms up in the air, relieving the tension from being in one position too long. Kathy smiles at his attempt to crack a joke. She could use a break.

Keath gets up from his desk, "I know a great smoothie place around the corner."

Kathy stands up already in agreement. Though she wasn't starving, she had been snacking the whole time, but she could use something cool to drink.

They head out walking to the smoothie bar and after minutes of being in the fresh air and different scenery both parties were feeling extremely better laughing and smiling all the way. It didn't last long though.

"Excuse me." He says sidestepping to go around a woman in the front of the smoothie bar.

"Keath?" A woman voice says.

Keath's focus goes from Kathy to the woman in front of him. The smile drops from his face, "Heather."

"Haven't seen you for awhile." Heather states.

Keath looking more and more awkward shifts under her gaze, "Well I've been busy."

"Hm, shocking since you work for your uncle. I would think you would be able to sit around and just rake in the cash." Heather says in a snarky voice.

"Not at all." Is all Keath says and Kathy could see Keath just wants to get out of this situation. Kathy couldn't blame him since she didn't know what to do herself.

Heather's gaze falls on Kathy as she non-discreetly looks her up in down, "Well, have fun with your hard 'work'." She gives Kathy one more snarky look before walking off.

Kathy lets out laugh almost believing that didn't just happen. Did a grown woman really act in such a manner? She thought.

"Okay then." Kathy finally said as Keath opened the door for the smoothie bar.

"Sorry about that," Keath rubs the back of his neck looking embarrassed, "I use to work with her..."

"Don't apologize. It wasn't you who acted in such a manner." Kathy waves it off.

"But really. She is going to go back to the office and tell other people about you and it might get you a bad name and that is my fault. So I should be sorry be-"

"Keath." Kathy looks at Keath with a serious stare, "It's fine. Plus we have more serious issues to address."

Keath looks at Kathy waiting for what she has to say.

"Mango or Blueberry smoothie?"
