"What do you think is wrong with Alex?" Joseph asked Philip
Joseph and Philip are Alex's room mates. They noticed that sometimes, Alex seemed to be in deep thoughts. As roommates, they've tried to talk to him but he seemed to shut them out.
"Bro. I really don't know. And I don't care. Whatever is his deal, it's his. He is probably secretive for a reason." Philip replied.
Philip has never really been a fan of Alex. He didn't like Alex because if how reserved he happened to be. He doubted if he and Alex would ever get along. If he could make a wish, he probably would wish that Alex wasn't his roommate.
Checkout those girls. What do you think?" Joseph changed the subject after tasting the disgust that was enveloping Philip for Alex.
Joseph had just noticed some girls step into the cafeteria that they were. He knew they would make a perfect distraction. It was the best way he could pull Philip off Alex's case.
"Niiiccceee!!!!!" Philip whispered. "How about we go and talk to them. You never know my future girlfriend may be there." Philip continued.
Joseph slapped the back of Philip's head playfully and said, "Stupid boy. You are just two weeks here and you want to have a girlfriend already. Carryover is calling your name."
"How far guys. What's going on now?" Vincent asked. Vincent had gone to get from food from the counter had come back with his food and set the tray holding his food on the table where his roommates were seated. He drew the chair in front of his food and sat on it
"It's this your guy oh. Instead of thinking of how he will get 5.0 GPA he is here hunting for a girlfriend." Joseph reported.
"It's not all that bad." Vincent encouraged.
"Did you notice? They just looked over here. Do you think they want to talk to us?" Philip asked quite agitated.
"We may never know sitting here, will we?" Joseph asked rhetorically.
"Then let's go over there." Vincent suggested.
Vincent got up from his chair when Joseph and Philip stood up. Vincent somehow led the way. He got to where the girls were. He could feel the cold sweat on his back despite been ina well air conditioned cafeteria.
"Hi." One of the girls answered. The girls looked at with curiosity. They wanted to know why he was there and what he wanted.
Vincent looked around and realised that Joseph and Philip weren't with him. He looks back at where they were sitting and saw them back on their seats laughing at him. Vincent frowned, turned around to face the girls with quite a lightened up face and said, "Excuse me. I'll be right back."
Vincent took quick steps to the table where his roommates sat. They were still laughing.
"What you guys just did isn't funny at all. You made me look like a fool. A big one in fact." Vincent rebuked.
"You think we would waste our time to go and talk to girls who may snub us?" Joseph asked still laughing.
"They only do that to jerks with an ill manner of approach. Right now we are being jerks just so you know. Wait." Vincent paused for a while to get the full attention of his roommates. They calmed their laughter a little and looked at him. He seemed serious. "I thought you guys are supposed to know how to talk to girls with how far you claim to go with them?" Vincent continued as an inquiry.
"Guy na to survey first. We dey sample them first. Girls sabi snub o. Like my senior man talk just now. You suppose know that one na." Phillip answered.
"One of them is coming over here." Joseph said when he noticed one of the girls standing up from where she was and moving towards their direction.
Vincent turned around and saw the girl that was coming. He had a bad feeling about what was about to go down. He felt a whiff of trouble coming their way. If this girl was coming to meet them, she definitely wanted to make a scene. They could be in for quite an amount of trouble.
Hey. So you said you were coming back, but you didn't. In case you forgot, our table is way over  there and not here." The girl looked at Vincent.
Three pairs of eyes stared at the girl before Philip let out a nervous cough and snapped them out of their transfixes.
"S...sorry....ehm....sorry. I was just getting up to walk over to your table again. I can't remember why I even sat down here. I was just.....just about to go to your table really." Vincent spoke breaking the awkwardness.
"Yeah right." Joseph muttered loud enough for only the three of them to hear. In reply, Vincent gave Joseph a very hard kick on his shin under the table.
"Owww!. Dude what was that for?" Joseph winced in pain and cursed.
The girl rolled her eyes and muttered aloud, " Gosh. You guys are so childish."
This didn't seem to go down well with Philip. He immediately spoke the first thing that came to his mind.
"Excuse me. What's suppose to mean?"
"It means exactly what you heard me say. You all are childish." Vanessa repeated.
"Yeah I heard you. I'm just wondering what and who gave you the audacity or rights to tell us that." Philip was loosing it already.
"Oh wait. Now you're are angry? Well I wasn't the one who walked up to your table to start a conversation and just walk out right in the middle."
"Wait. I hadn't engaged you guys in a conversation yet. I can't seem to know why you're been so dramatic." Vincent said.
"I'm been dramatic abi? I don't think there's nothing I haven't seen in this life." She let out a dangerous laugh. "We were on our own when your stupid friend here..." pointing at Vincent "...decided to come and disturb our peace. He then said we should excuse him with the promise of coming back. That's if you guys don't know. That's was really rude and here you are sitting here and calling me dramatic. I got think you guys are just rude bastards." She continued.
Joseph who had been swallowing all the insults from this girl could no longer swallow the more insults she was raining on them. He decided to regurgitate the rage he had been trying hard to swallow. He stood up so fast that his chair toppled over making people glance towards their direction.
"Look here you with or whatever thing you are, you have no right whatsoever to come here to call us stupid, rude and most of all bastards. He..." pointing at Vincent, "...already apologized for going to talk to you guys in the first place, so why are you going over that again? Take your frustration out on someone else. And in case your friends haven't told u, you've got some serious anger issues. There's a reason we have the Guidance and Counselor. You could use their help." Joseph finalized.
With that, they strode out of the cafeteria, leaving the girl at the spot burning with anger.

"Hey guys. What's up? You guys look like you are about to commit murder." Alex said.
Alex was about to enter the cafeteria to get food when he saw his roommates storm out if the building looking awfully pissed.
"Alex. Sup. Na just one stupid girl oh. She be wan embarrass us because say we wan talk to her and her friends." Philip answered.
"Wow. Seriously? I wish I was there. That would have been very funny." Alex tried to joke. He even let out a loud laugh.
"Guy. It wasn't at all oh. The girl is a serious case. I swear if not for the fact that she is a girl, I would have slapped her or something." Joseph reacted in anger.
"Haba now, I'm sure it wasn't that bad. I'm guessing you guys are just exaggerating what happened. See. Let's go back inside and just see if we can apologize and actually be friends." Alex suggested.
"No. Alex, you don't understand... We are not exaggerating and there is no way on hell I'm going back in there." Vincent opposed. He even hissed at the suggestion.
"Guys please. Calm down. I'm sure it's your anger that's talking right now. Let's just go back and sort things out, okay?" Alex pleaded one more time.
The boys reluctantly agreed and followed Alex back into the cafeteria.
"Okay, so where is she?" Alex asked once they were inside the cafeteria.
"The table at that end..." Vincent points at the table. "The girl on a green top." Vincent continued.
Alex followed Vincent's hand and ended up at a table where three girls sat talking animatedly and on spotting the girl on green top, Alex made for their direction. Since the girl's back was to him, Alex couldn't make out her face, so he kept on walking towards them. When he was almost at the table, the girl on green turned to talked to someone and as if he had seen a ghost, Alex froze on the spot. He whispers to himself, "You've got to be kidding me."Alex had seen the face he has grown to dislike over the last few days. Vanessa.
" Okay. Why you  stop? You no get mind again ba?" Philip asked with a bored look on his face.
"Alex, what's wrong? What happened?" Vincent asked with a concerned look.
"Do you know what? Let's...let's just go." Alex said. Immediately, he made for the door through which he came in. The other boys were confused as to what went down just now.
