The school day had just ended.
As I pulled by books out of my locker and sloppily shoved them into my bag, someone tapped my shoulder.
I looked behind me and saw Yoshiko smiling at me.
"Lily, want to go on a walk with me?"
Play it cool, Riko.
You can do this.
"S-Sure!" I blurted out at her.
I picked up my bag and swung it over my shoulder, then closed my locker behind me.
"So where are we going?" I asked as I followed behind her.
"Kehehe.."
She brought her right hand up to her eye and stroke a pose.
"We are going... to the Bookstore from HELL!"
So the bookstore down the street?
"Why the Bookstore?" I asked her.
"My stupid mom wants me to bring her a cook book.." She muttered to herself.
"I can help you choose one for her then."
She turned around and looked at me.
Her eyes were practically sparkling.
"Really? Thank you so much!"
I let out a giggle.
"It's no problem, really. But you're welcome."
After about 10 more minutes of walking and chatting, we made it to the bookstore.
There were countless shelves of books in every direction.
It was a bit overwhelming.. but if it's to help Yoshiko then it's worth the trouble.
"Y-Yohane-chan.. Where's the cooking section?"
"Uuuuhhhhhhhhhhh...... M-My X-Ray vision isn't working right now hahaha.."
So she doesn't know either?
I walked down every aisle until I finally found one with cook books.
I think my mom said something about Tsushima-san trying to get Yoshiko to eat healthy..
A couple books caught my eye.
"Hey, come here and help me choose!" I yelled at a Yoshiko, who was sitting down reading a scary looking book.
She got up and came over.
"Ngh! It's so.. healthy..."
"Which one do you think your mom would like?"
She pointed to one with a salad on the cover.
It read 'Fine Cooking: Ten Sensational Summer Squash Recipes' on the cover.
"Ew."
Yoshiko handed me a $10 bill and I bought it at the register.
She slid her scary book on to the counter as well.
"This one too."
I gave the change to Yoshiko and we walked out the door.
"Lily, you don't have to carry the bags. Give it here."
"No it's okay. They're not that heavy anyway."
"Oh, thank you," She said as she looked to the side and blushed.
I guess even Yoshiko can be a little awkward at times.
We kept walking until we reached Yoshiko's house.
I handed her the bags and watched her as she went inside.
"Bye! See you at school!"
I waved at her then walked back to my own house.
My feet were aching.
Stupid shoes.
I threw them to the side, plopped down on my bed, and immediately fell asleep.
Goodnight.
