Ray hissed loudly and began to squeeze Whale's neck. The echoes of Stingray's cries suddenly stopped as Ray felt a sharp sting in her back.
Stingray was tearing out Ray's scales, ripping her flesh with her sharp talons.
How had she escaped that damn cage?!
Then Ray saw it whale roaring at Stingray.
There was a hole in the dragonet's cage. Out of anger she must have gone crazy and clawed- or chewed- the thing until it broke.
Wow. Even Ray was impressed.
"Get off of me you stupid creature!" Ray roared, grabbing Stingray by the back on the neck and throwing her into a palm tree's trunk. Her grip loosened on Whale, but he did not move. His eyes flickered up to her.
"Ray..." he said quietly.
She was not paying attention as she roared at the limp Stingray.
"Ray.." Whale said louder, reaching up and gently grabbing her wrist.
"P-please....stop..." He whispered faintly.
Ray gave the dragon a second look, scrunching her face up.
"Since when were YOU, of all dragons, able to talk back to your higher authorities?!" She said loudly, hoping to intimidate the poor SeaWing.
"St-stop hurting her. Kill me instead." He said, making Ray press harder on his neck. He teared up from the lack of air and the pain.
Ray suddenly, for the first time since madness had taken over herself, felt pity for this dragon. Maybe even more.
But she, herself, didn't even understand half the emotions she felt when she had some sanity left in her mind.
And she even forgot what one of the biggest emotions were called...and then, it all clicked.

Whale started crying before he realized that he would be dying for Stingray's sake. He loved her, and it seemed like the best thing to do.
And, well, also because he wanted to die. There was really nothing in the world that mattered to him. There was really nothing in the world that believed he mattered.
Ray seemed to have sort of froze in front of him. Odd. Maybe she was thinking about how his glorious and bloody death would be? That had to be it.
"Ray?" He choked out. His face was slowly turning a blueish purple.
Ray blinked and released her hand from Whale's neck, shaking her head.
"I-.." Ray stuttered, stepping back and growling at Stingray, whom was slowly standing up and whimpering.
Whale gasped, his eyes widening. He took deep slow breaths before standing back up and seeing the beautiful blue dragonet.
"Stingray!" He cried, darting towards her.
The dragonet hissed before she realized that it was Whale, and burst into tears.
"Daddy!" She wailed, jumping into Whale's arms.
Ray watched Whale, growling.
"I need to get rid of that stupid dragonet..." She hissed under her breath.
