Chapter 4: Friends Forever
(This whole chapter is a flashback c: )
It's been two whole weeks since the party at Brooklyn’s house and I have made sure to keep as much distance between Bryce and I as possible. No matter how hard I try I can't seem to keep that night off of my mind. I hadn't told anyone, not even my best friends, and they hadn't asked either.
Speaking of best friends, they are awful best friends. The day after the party I only got a text from Ash asking if I had seen her biology text book. I felt so loved at that moment -note the sarcasm. Monday came around and, still, nothing about how I got home. I decided to let it go though because I needed them right now.
For the past few weeks I have been anxiously awaiting the letter that lets me know if I got into my dream college, Yale. It seemed cliché to some people but for me it was a goal for years now. I've been working for it so hard since the seventh grade and I started working even harder when my big brother joined the military three years ago. The other day I was informed that my letter of acceptance or dream killing would be here this week.
Every time my mother brought the mail in I was practically on her shoulders watching her go through each letter, each one making me want to crawl in a hole in cry. Why couldn't it just come already? I hated this waiting, nonstop.
"Come on Lyd, you're depressing me here! You haven't even gotten the letter yet!" Ash groaned as we stood by Paige's car after school. Eddy was sprawled out in the backseat snoring, apparently he was up all night studying for a history test. Poor guy.
"Ash, it should have been here already. It's almost been a week since I was told my letter would be here. I'm not getting accepted. I just know it." Frowning, I looked down at a loose string on my sweater. The feeling of Paige's glare was overbearing though so I was forced to look up only to find that she wasn't the only one. All of them were, except for Eddy, he was just frustrated because he was woken up by Ash's big mouth.
Paige pinched my arm and gave a small yelp of pain, holding it with a pout on my face. "Hey..." I whined but she cut me off. "Lydia Marie Michaels, you will get into that school because you know why?" She said sternly; I only shook my head. "Because you are super smart, a hard worker, and most importantly because you earned it. So if you EVER go around doubting yourself again I’ll be the first person to turn your pretty little ass back in the right direction. Do I make myself clear?" My eyes were widened in shock at how calm she sounded but still it was intimidating. I quickly nodded, biting the inside of my cheek, clearly I wasn't the only in shock. Eddy and Ash were also staring at her. "Now lets go. I know for sure your letter of acceptance is waiting for you right now."
