Ribbons

Nothing. Chaînes was in nothing. But there was something. What is it? Where am I? She was floating in nothing, but there was something. She looked down at her arms. Ribbons. That something was ribbons, wrapped around her forearm tightly but not to tight. The ribbons were perfect. Chaînes put her arm straight out in front of her. The ribbon seemed to expand and shoot in the direction she was pointing her arm to. She smiled, and woke up. Her bed was warm, warmer than usual anyway. Her cat clock ticked lazily, it's tail waving side to side in unison with its eyes. The clock read 6:30, half an hour after Chaînes was supposed to get up. "WHAT?" Screamed Chaînes. She had never gotten up late all school year and she was confused and angry. "How did I sleep in? I never sleep in! Ugh!" She was frantic, searching and running around trying to get an hour's worth of things done in 15 minutes. Saturn sat on her bed watching her, her large purple eyes following her around the room. She seemed entertained by Chaînes' stress. "What are you looking at?" She sneered at her. "Geez! What an attitude! Tsk!" Saturn looked away from her, holding her head high. Chaînes froze and stared an Saturn who stared back. "W-what?" Stuttered Chaînes, confused and still very late. "Aren't you late? Because of your dream?" Saturn snickered. "Y-y-...yeah." Chaînes gabbed her bag and backed out of the room, never once taking her eyes off of Saturn. "I- I'm going now." Stuttered Chaînes. "Then why are you still here?" Saturn spat back. Chaînes backed through the doorway into the hallway. Once she was out on eye sight from Saturn she darted down the hall back to the stairs where she ran out of the house. She walked to the bus stop, her mind racing. "Saturn talked, Saturn talked, Saturn talked" She repeated in her mind over and over, hoping that maybe she would think it was a dream. But it wasn't, and she knew that, which only made her more frantic. After what felt like an eternity, her bus arrived. She got on swiftly and quietly, taking her seat in the front of the bus without a sound. Her eyes were large and she was sweating. She was practically asking for an interrogation from her friends. "What's wrong?" "What happened?" Asked Chloe and Zoe, one after the other. "I-I... um... nothing?" Said Chaînes, angry at herself for stuttering. "Oh come on Chaînes! We all know that isn't true!" Said Chloe, who obviously wanted to learn every little detail. "I-I said that there was nothing wrong! Nothing happened!" Chaînes seemed to have a proper grasp on her voice now. "I just woke up late, ok?" She hoped that this would be a satisfying answer for Chloe and it seems as if it was. "Oh, ok. You could've just said that in the first place." Chloe believes it. They arrive at school where they split up to find their classes before the bell finds them. Chaînes is unfocused, she neither takes notes or watches the other kids. She simply sits and thinks, trying to find an excuse as to why Saturn talked. It is now 5th hour, right after lunch. Chaînes sits by the window and stares out at the trees planted on the grounds. "Maybe she didn't talk at all. Maybe I am just remembering it wrong." She thinks to herself for the hundredth time today. The trees sway gently in the wind, as if dancing to the music that the air has made for it, only the trees hear. The air that day is warm and kind, a day where nobody wants to be inside the school, not even the teachers. Among the colors of green plants and the tan brick of the school, there is a spot of something. A spot of black on the ground. Chaînes is unable to tell what this spot is, since she is looking down out of the window of the 5th floor. She watches the spot as in moves toward the base of the school, right below the window. She watches as the spot climbs the school, coming straight for the window. It moves with grace and power, although the thing is rather small. Chaînes stares as it becomes easier to tell what it is. It is Saturn. From the purple eyes to the white heart, it is Saturn. She is now sitting on the small ledge outside the window, in plain sight of all the other students. But nobody seems to even see Saturn. Chaînes begins to panic. "What is she doing here? What does she want from me?" Her mind is racing. All of a sudden there is a huge crash from above them. Something is on the roof. Chaînes looks at Saturn who looks panicked as well. The students in the class all look up and a hum of question flows among them. The teacher tries to calm the class although she also looks a little worried. CRASH! All of the students run and scatter all of them headed for the door, the teacher following them. Chaînes doesn't move, even when all the other people have left and run downstairs, she doesn't move. She stares, fright freezes her in place. Something has crashed through the roof into the classroom. It was not a person, or Saturn. It was a large creature. The thing was at least 8 or 9 feet tall and was a dirt color. It had the head of a bat, the torso of a human, the legs of a goat, the arms of a tiger, and the wings of a crow. The thing was filthy and smelly and had the sharpest and largest teeth Chaînes had ever seen. It looked at her with it's large, red eyes that seemed to glow. It bared his teeth at her and let out a huge roar! Chaînes heard glass shattering behind her but her body still refused to move. "Chaînes! Snap out of it! I need your help!" Saturn was now standing on her desk, shouting at her. Chaînes still couldn't move as she stared at the creature who was now slowly walking toward her. Saturn looked at her with an angry face. "Ugh, fine!" Saturn jumped onto Chaînes' lap and pressed the top of her head onto the middle of her chest. Saturn's whited fur began to look like lump as it began to solidify into a crystal that was completely clear. There was a warm glow coming from where Saturn's head was pressed on Chaînes' chest. She was no longer frozen as the looked at her chest. The creature backed up with an angry roar as if the light was weakening him. Saturn moved her head away but Chaînes' chest still glowed bright. It was a nice feeling of warmth and comfort, but al of a sudden the spot took on a feeling of being stabbed. Chaînes screamed in pain, her hands shooting to her chest. She stood up in shock as she felt something solid growing out of her chest. The pain faded after a crystal just like Saturn's appeared on her chest. It was a heart shape but instead of being clear it was a beautiful shade of light blue. The crystal was still semi-transparent. The warm glow was back as jets of some sort of strange mist shot out of the crystal. The mist cam out in several streams and were coming together into streams of ribbons, the same color as the crystal, although they were completely solid. They surrounded Chaînes in a beautiful circle. They then tightened onto her skin all over. She felt her clothes melt away under the ribbons, which were now the only things covering her. They started to sew themselves together into new clothes. The clothes she now had on was a Japanese school girl outfit. But in stead of a red ribbon around the neck it was a deep blue. The skirt, collar, and sleeve detail was a light, sky blue. Her shirt had a hole for the crystal, fitting it perfectly. She had knee-high socks that were white, like her shirt, with blue surrounding the rim of the top. She had blue shoes and her hair had turned the same color of blue as the other prices of her outfit. A headband stretched around her head, it had a little bow tied from the ribbon on the side of it. But on her arms were thick, heavy, metal bands. They were the same light blue as the ribbons but they felt off. "DO WHAT YOU DID IN THE DREAM!" Shouted Saturn. Chaînes was confused at first as the light faded, but then she remembered. The creature took a step toward Saturn but Chaînes pointed her arm at him, her palm directly at him. A large, thick, blue chain shot out at him, wrapped around him, and tightened, trapping him. It let out the loudest roar as the chains around him began to glow. And suddenly, he turned to dust. It's dust blew away in the wind and the chains retracted back to Chaînes. She was exhausted, it seemed as if doing these things took a lot of energy. "I know your tired Chaînes,... but there is one more thing I need you to do." Saturn was looking at her with concern, awaiting her to respond. Chaînes was to tired to battle her eyes and ears into thinking it was fake, especially after what just happened. "Yeah?" She said. "Just jump. I'll explain up there." Said Saturn. Once again, Chaînes was confused, but she obeyed her orders and jumped. She went high above the school, as if flying. And instead of plummeting down back into the classroom, she stayed there, high up above the school looking down at the hole where the creature came through. Saturn jumped to and was now floating next to her. " Now put out your hand and focus all of your energy into it. Then, focus on fixing the school. I will erase the memories of your classmates any teacher. Ok?" Chaînes closed her eyes and did as she was told. It took all of her energy to fix the hole and when she did she found it so hard to stay awake. She felt herself begin to fall and she fell asleep. Right there in the air. "Crap!" Saturn shouted. And the world seemed to disappear as Chaînes fell into her dreams.
