"Say it!" I demand.
"No!" He is so stubborn.
"Say it or I won't let you up!" I say.
He groans. "I don't want to."
"Too bad, you have to." I fold my arms.
"Fine, you are the best, and strongest person in the compound." He sighs.
"Thank you." I say standing up.
It has been 2 years since Asher found me in the woods. We have been living near each other since then. We hunt together, fish together, do almost everything together. There has still been no sign of Ezrie. I think she could possibly be dead. I don't know for sure though. You'd think that she would've tried to kill me by now if she was alive.
If Ezrie is alive, she is 18 just like me and Asher, so we only have 3 more years until we are finally out of this place! It seems like it has only been 2 years when it has actually been 9. Time goes by fast when you are trying not to get killed.
"I'm going to get some food." Asher interrupts my thoughts. "Okay, have fun!" I say sarcastically. He rolls his eyes and walks away. We are kind of like a married couple, we get food for each other, help each other. It's a little scary.
Since I found Asher here, he has grown a lot. He is at least a foot and a half taller than me, but guess who's still stronger. This girl! He has also gotten more handsome. I know it's weird for me to say this, but puberty treated him well. I don't know for sure yet, but I could possibly be attracted to him.
By the time Asher gets back, it's already dark out. The fire crackles, as the meat cooks over it. I stare into the fire, think about everything that has happened while out here. Deaths mostly. Asher takes the meat off the fire and hands me a piece. Our hands brush and it feels like sparks shoot up my arm. I wonder if he had the same feeling or not. Stop it stop it stop it! You are not attracted to him! He is just a friend. I continue telling myself he just a friend as he stares at me weirdly.
"Don't look at me like that." I say.
He puts his hands up in defense. "Don't act like a weirdo." He says. I roll my eyes. We sit in silence until I decide I should go to bed.
"Well, I will see you tomorrow." I say while I stretch. "Yeah, I should probably get some sleep too." He stands up too. I pour a little water on the fire and go into my hut. I call it a hut now. I'm not sure why.
***************************
I wake up early to hunt for some breakfast. We ate all the rabbit from last night.
"Well hello." A voice sneers behind me. I turn around quickly to spot...."Henry?"
"That's right." He smirks.
"But, but I killed you." I say.
"That's what you thought. But, I wouldn't let myself die because of a girl." He chuckles. I roll my eyes.
"I faked the death. I wore extra layers so the arrow wouldn't go all the way in me. The point of the arrow just cut my stomach open a little." He shrugs.
"So why are you here now?" I say getting annoyed.
"Well, I had to get my revenge." He laughs.
"Revenge for what?" I say.
"You caused me to kill Ezrie's brother, just for you. You're a scrap, worthless, not worth killing someone else for. I should've let you die, but Ezrie insisted. She insisted that I save you." He explains.
"That's it? The revenge is just for you saving my life?" I laugh.
"No. You also tried to kill me, which obviously failed. So, now it's my turn. I get to try, and succeed, in killing you." He smiles.
