Chapter 1

    Dallas 'Alex' Winston and Charlie Chip Matthews were hanging out after school, they were going to go home together after school (They were good friends,almost like brothers). Alex was looking over at the track not even knowing it, and he found himself staring at Jessica Cotton Candy Curtis. Charlie laughed "Alright there lover boy?"He teased kicking Alex in the leg slightly "What? Uh... Yeah yeah..." Alex said snapping out of it by shaking his head "You haven't taken your eyes off that track since the bell rang."Charlie said putting a foot up on the wall behind him "I uh.... I like Jessica, man. Like a lot" Charlie sirked "Ya think I haven't noticed you lookin' at my youngest cousin?"He asked in Darry Curtis' manner as Darry used when talking to anyone else in the gang "What do I do?? I really wanna ask her out." "Ask her then. Go up to her after track and pull her aside...shoot flirt with her if you want to first. Just don't scare her with whatever you do,you know how jumpy she is."Charlie said "Yeah... I won't. Can you come with??" Alex asked "Yeah,I wanna talk to Katherine."Charlie said fixing his hair, Alex chuckled "Let's go." He said, they jogged over to the track and hopped the fence, Jessica and her track team were on the bleachers; their practice had just finished. Alex took a deep breath and straightened his brown leather jacket, Jessica saw him and she turned to say something to her friends who giggled,Charlie ran up the bleachers "Hey girls,how was track?"He asked leaning on the railing,Jessica rolled her eyes and laughed,he sure could he a heck of a lot like Two-Bit if he wanted. "Good." Jessica said through laughs, Alex stepped up and cleared his throat "Hey Jessiecake, think I could talk to ya for a sec?" He asked,the girls giggled once more as Jessica looked at him then back down as she got up "Sure."They walked down the bleachers and off to the side "Need somethin'?"Jessica asked him,he shrugged putting his hands in his pockets "I dunno,thinkin' about headin' to the movies tonight."He started,she tilted her head "What movies,you know I love my movies."She said "I haven't decided yet,man."They got talking for a couple minutes,playful teasing as well when Alex suddenly asked "Wanna go out with me?" Jessica looked at him "What?" she asked thinking he was kidding "Y'know I thought you had your smarts from Ponyboy....you sure they're in there?"He asked tapping her on the top of the head "Which version of that do you mean?"She asked not looking at him "Don't play dumb Jessica,you know which I mean."He replied,slightly dropping his niceness "I mean if you don't wanna that's fine just know you're missin' out on a real sweet deal."He said,going to walk away knowing she'd quickly answer if he made it as if he was going to leave "Alex wait!"She took him by the sleeve "Yeah,I will."she said "Ya will? Really?" He asked sounding too excited so he toned down his voice at the end of the sentence "Y-yeah... I'd love to, Alex" Jessica said blushing "Awesome... I'll pick you up at 8..." Alex said backing away as he spoke and then turning around to go back to Charlie, he wanted to jump up and down but knew that his dad would shake his head at that, even though he wasn't there. Charlie was pulling a complete Two-Bit by now,flirting with the girls who he wasn't related to or knew,Clair Winston being who he knew closely. "Charlie Chip! Come on, man... We gotta get goin'. I got me a date tonight" He said fixing his hair "Way to ruin the fun,Al. See ya girls later!"Charlie said doing a backflip down off the bleachers "Darry teach ya that?" Alex asked as they walked out to the parking lot - Dallas was waiting for them "Yup." Charlie said contently, Alex nodded impressed, Jake 'Root Beer' Curtis, Steve and Sodapop Curtis' son, came running over "Yo... Were you guys just hittin' on Jessica and Katherine?" He asked lighting a cigarette and holding his backpack over his shoulder; Jake had Sodapop's kindness, but Steve's wild side. Almost like an instance where the two can't easily co-exist... But Jake makes it happen. He has shorter brown hair and bright blue eyes, and he's just a bit younger than the other two - 15 - whereas Alex was 16 almost 17, and Charlie was 17. "Yup... And I got a date with Jessiecake" Alex said "Yeah... I didn't get a date but I did a pretty badass backflip off the bleachers." "Sweet,Dallas is waitin' for y'all hurry up. He's gettin' impatient."Jake said "Yeah yeah." Alex said as they got in Dallas' car - well, the one he was 'borrowing' from his friend Buck. The kids threw their backpacks in the trunk and got in, Alex in the passenger seat "What were you and Jessiecake talkin' about?" Dally asked Alex "Oh uh... I may have asked her out. And she... May have said yes." "You like her?" Alex nodded "Yeah dad... I really like her. I'm just worried that Johnny and Pony won't approve or somethin'..." Alex said tapping his cigarette out the open window, realizing how protective Jessica's dads are "I'll tell 'em."Dally said "Thanks dad... She and I are goin' to the Drive In tonight." Alex added "He's gonna get his first kisssss" Jake teased leaning in between Dally and Alex; Alex pushed his face back into his seat "Or more than that" Charlie teased in a sing songy voice from behind Alex's seat"Shut your trap, Charlie Chip." Alex sighed, Dally chuckled "You better not. I ain't tryin' to have a little Alex runnin' around the house." Dally said as they pulled up to his apartment "Says you Dal. Dad's told me of all the girls you had before Cher."Charlie said "Hey. They were just... For fun. That all changed when I met Cherry. I knew she was for the long run unlike the other chicks." Dallas said as they exited the car and went inside,Cherry had Marcia and Randy over as usual "Cher I'm home!"Dally called walking inside, Cherry came in from the other room "Hey! How was school boys?" She asked as she hugged her son and the others as well, Cherry was basically a full - on Greaser now; she still owned her Soc stuff but only wore them when going to family things with her parents,she preferred her capri jeans with small plaid button up tank tops that tied up at the bottom and her leather jacket,dark cherry red or black heels,tight black skirts,red pencil skirt dresses,,updos with a bandana or her curls nice and slightly messy with red lipstick and a slight smokey eye....and Dally prided himself with this since she was now his wife but he himself was well known by greasers,as Cherry now was. "It was great...." Alex said, Charlie and Jake nodded "Our boy here's got a date tonight with Jessiecake" Dallas said putting Alex in a headlock and ruffling his redish-orange hair "Jessica?"Randy asked from the couch "Randy? What're you doin' here? Not that I ain't glad to see ya.." "Your mom invited me and Marcia over...Bob's doin' who knows what."Randy explained "Ah. Hi Marcia" Alex waved as she came in "Hey Alex, Charlie, Jake" She said "So... You and Jessiecake?" Cherry asked her son "Yeah,She's real pretty....."Alex said,Charlie and Jake muffled their laughs "Well, we gotta get you ready then, young man." Cherry ruffled his hair "I'll fix that... Orange ball of fuzz on your head later" Cherry chuckled "Yeah yeah, I was joggin' today a lot." He replied, then he, Charlie and Jake went into Alex's room "Okay. So... We gotta figure out what you're gonna wear to look somewhat decent for Jessiecake." Jake said sitting on the bed "She's your cousin,man...What does she like? Even I don't know her that well and I grew up with her too."Alex said "She ain't the judgemental kind... I don't think she'll mind whatever you wear." He replied as Alex searched through his closet "Ah... Think she'll like this?" Alex held up a collared navy blue shirt with a white bordered pocket on one side, they nodded "That's nice... Now pants." Charlie said "What about a nice pair of dark blue jeans?"Jake suggested, Alex bent down to look for some, he found a pair with slight worn rips in the knees "Got em... And I'll wear my nice shoes. Well - the ones that aren't muddy." Alex said grabbing a pair of red converse,the other two boys nodded approvingly once Alex came back from changing "Now with that mop of orange on your head."Cherry said walking in,Jake and Charlie pulled Alex to sit on the bed with them to make it easier for Cherry. Alex finished getting ready, he looked in the mirror: he was ready for his first date.
