"Drop it Jess. There is no cure and even if there is the government wouldn't give it to us because they're too stuck up and mighty to realize they are the reason we're in this mess now."

"I know that but what if there is a chance it is there and they give it to us. That is only thing we can hold on to in this godforsaken place Maya."

"We need to focus on what we know is out there our family Jess."

"But----"

"No buts period Jess." I said, while getting up and putting the plate in the garbage.

"Fine." Jess said doing the same.

I started to head over to the wall where Jess and I thumbtacked a huge blown up map on the wall and picked up a marker.

"So how far did you get today?"

"From my house a 10 mile radius all around" Jess said walking up behind me.

I marked the map and sighed. We had searched all over Counterlake and still haven't found my sister.

"We've covered everywhere, we need to break new ground. So we need to get a new home base"

I knew this day was coming and I dreaded it. "Jess, what if she comes back and we are not here. She'll be so scared and all alone."

"Sweetie, you know if she was going come back she would've been came. Its time to go. We cant stay here forever."

Jess walked out to the shed patting my shoulder. " I'm gonna go pack ok? You do the same."

"Sure." I replied to the empty air where Jess had previously stood.

I went up to my room and started packing the things we needed. I caught a glimpse of something in my mirror. It was a picture of my sister and I at Mr. Icy's. It was an ice cream shop we had went to when she won her very first soccer game. I started smiling and crying I missed her so much. I just sat there and cried for awhile.

All of a sudden I heard a blood-curdling scream that sent chills through my body. It was Jess she was crying for help. I ran down the stairs, grabbed my gun, and ran out the door only to see my only friend in the world turn to one of them before my eyes.
