Once we start heading down the road, Ashley passes the exit to Lindsay's house.
"Guys, where are we going." I ask, watching the exit disappear in the rear-view mirror.
"We're going tot he movies." Lindsay says without looking at me.
"Lindsay, my mother is going to kill me if she finds out."
"Well, she's not going to find out then, is she?" She says giving me a side-eye.
She's trying to get me killed. This is how I die, being found where I'm not supposed to be.
"Fine, what movie are we seeing?" I ask rolling my eyes.
"The Fault in Ours Stars in out, I really want to see it." Ashley says looking at Lindsay and I.
"Oooo, I really want to see that too. What about you Ab?" Lindsay says excitedly.
"Sounds good to me!"
I better enjoy my last 24 hours of freedom before I'm locked away for the rest of my life, when my mother finds out where I am.
20 Minutes Later
"I'll get the ticket."
"Abi, no. You always pay for ticket." Ashley complains glaring at me
"And I'm going to again. Get over it." I reply smiling at her.
I always pay for movies and they get the snacks. Its our system, even though they hate it when I pay for things.
We pay for our tickets, drinks and popcorn and walk to our theater. After glancing around the room, we decide to sit in the bottom section, second row down. We always sit here when there's a full theater.
"I'm so excited for this movie, the trailer looked so good." Lindsay says stuffing her face with popcorn.
We always finish half of the popcorn before the movie even starts.
"Yeah, me too." Ashley says looking at her phone.
"Lindsay, don't hog all the popcorn." I laugh, taking the popcorn from her.
She shoots me a death glare as the lights in the theater dim.
After the Movie**
"I loved that movie so much!" Lindsay shouts as we leave the theater.
I'm still wiping me tears away.
"I'm still crying. That movie hit me in my soul." I say dabbing my eyes.
"Me too, that was so sad." Ashley agrees.
"Lets go get that ice cream. I want to drown my sorrows in cookie dough ice cream." I say laughing as we hop in the car.
**
When we get to the ice cream place, we all walk in and grab our cups. We come to this place so often that we have a system. Put syrup on the bottom, get a flavor of ice cream, add toppings, get more syrup, ice cream and then add the last topping.
After we get what we want and pay we sit back down. The bell from the door rings and I look up. A blonde lady with a very tall man walk in the door. The lady is wearing a long black coat, blue jeans and cream colored sweater. They're both dressed casual like they had just left a date night or something. Once they find a place to sit, the man stand up and heads towards the ice cream machine.
"Abi, do you know who that is?"Lindsay asks.
"No. Who?" I say with a lack of interest.
"Carrie Underwood." She says with a squeal.
"Oh. She's that singer we watched in the CMT awards right??" Ash says.
"Oh yeah, she's dressed so casually I didn't recognize her. Wonder why she's in West Virginia?" I say
They both shrug and continue looking.
"Lets go get an autograph." Lindsay says excitedly.
"You guys can. I'll just stay here." I say
They both walk over and say hi to Carrie. She tells them to sit down in the booth and they talk. I sit and watch and then stare at the table top and eat my ice cream. I look over and see Lindsay and Ashley point at me and the lady smiles at me. I force a smile and give a small wave.
This is awkward.
I suddenly feel sick and wait til they look away to head to the bathroom. I walk in and go to a stall. I sit in the floor for a minute and my stomach feels better. I get up from the stall and walk out as Carrie walks into the bathroom.
"Um.. Hi." I say a little startled.
Did she follow me in here?
"You okay?" She asks.
"Yeah just felt a little sick. I'm alright." I say shyly.
"You sure, Sweetie?" She asks
I nod.
"What h..happened to your shoulder?" She asks look from my shoulder to me.
"I just h..hit it on something, it's not that bad." I say shrugging it off.
"No, someone did that to you. You don't get a bruise and a cut like that from running into something." She says sternly looking at it closer, "Who did this to you?"
"My mom." I sigh looking from my shoulder to her.
"You might need stitches. Let me get my husband to take a look at this." She says turning around and heading out of the bathroom.
I follow her to the very tall man she can into the ice cream place with.
She says something to him and looks over her shoulder at me. His eyes follow her and he says something back to her.
"Hi, I'm Mike. How about you follow us to our car outside and I can take a look at that." He says with a smile.
"Your friends can follow if they want." Carrie says motioning to my friends sitting in the booth.
I motion them to follow and we all walk out to their Mercedes. Mike open the back door and I sit down with my injured shoulder facing him under the light.
He looks closely at my shoulder and gives me a side look that says somethings wrong.
"It's probably going to need stitches, it's deeper than it looks." He says looking at Carrie.
"I can't get stitches, my mom can't know that anyone knows," I say in a panic," I'm fine."
I try to get out of the car and Carrie stops me.
"No, no. You're not okay. We'll take you to the hospital and no one will know, okay?" She says calmly.
"It's going to need stitches, Kiddo," Mike says calmly, " We can't just walk away without taking care of this. You're friends can follows us to the hospital and we'll come up with a plan from there."
"Okay." I sigh out.
I'm so dead.
