Despite the fact that it was one of the hottest days of the year, you went to school wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt. You couldn't let anybody else see your injuries. You were glad Jake didn't go to your school. He had graduated last year. You had always had a thing for older guys.

You tried to just keep your head down as you walked to your first class, but as you turned the corner, you felt yourself run into someone. Their body was like a wall, and your bruises stung. You looked up to apologize, and you recognized the boy. The boy from yesterday. Damn, he was cute. You had to get out of there though, so you tried to get around him, but dropped all of your books. You were a mess. As you bent down, he bent down too.

"Nice to see you, again," he said, smiling, "I'm Liam, Liam Payne."

"Oh.. hi, um, I'm Valerie. Or, Val I guess"

"Are you okay, love?" Did he just call you "love"? Who did he think he was? This was none of his buisness. It's not like he really cared anyways. You just stared at him blankly before looking down and picking up your books.

Seemingly unphased by your ignorance, he just continued helping you. As you two stood up, he handed you your last book, being careful to place it gently in your arms. Despite this, your arms still throbbed. He saw the pain on your face.

Feeling the need to say something, you quietly replied "Thank you" and walked away.

Liam's POV

I suddenly felt a weight on my shoulders, as my best friends Andy and Maz tackled me from behind.

"Hey mate, what was that about?", Andy said as he hopped off your back.

"Yeah man, who was that girl, she was fit!" Maz added jokingly.

"Oh", you said, surprised. You didn't realize they were watching you, "thats Valerie. She lives a couple houses down. I was just helping her out."

"Yeah, and I bet you'll be 'helping her out' of her clothes later tonight", Andy said with a cheeky smile spread across his face. You weren't quite so amused.

"Shut up, Andy. She's a nice girl and I'm just trying to help her out. Nothing more than that."

You could tell Andy and Maz weren't convinced, but all you cared about was convincing yourself that you had no feelings for Valerie.

However, with every time you were seeing her, it was growing more and more difficult to do so.
