Chapter 6: The Truth Comes Out

     Eldon and I pull up to Emily's house and hop out of the car. We walk into the house and there waiting patiently on the couch is Emily.

    

     "Michelle!" Emily yelled as Eldon and I walked through the door.

    

     "...So? Did you tell him the big news?" She asked. I was frustrated with the fact that Hunter was sitting on the couch with Emily listening to the conversation. I knew that I would have to fess up to him sooner or later...I was just hoping it was later, maybe about nine months later.

    

     "Big news?" Hunter asked.

    

     "Well...See I was...We were...I didn't." I stuttered.

    

     "Spit it out!" He said.

    

     "...I'm ...I'm pregnant..." I said as I hung my head in shame, Eldon put his arm around me.

    

     "Wow, good job bruh... Congrats!" Hunter said sarcastically. Eldon repeated my actions and hung his head in shame as well. There was a brief scilence, then I finally spoke up.

    

     "We are gonna go tell miss kate that we need time off dance." I said with a slight quiver in my voice.

    

     "Wait, what do you mean we?!" Emily asked in a somewhat shocked and surprised tone.

    

     "I'm taking time off dance with Michelle... She needs me right now and I need to be there for her." Eldon chimed in.

    

     "Dude, you're our male soloist! You can't leave now!" Hunter said.

    

     "Well I guess you are now bro!" Eldon said. I was sad to see him give away something that he worked so hard for, but it was the right thing to do.

    

     "Are you serious man?! Eldon... You the real MVP!" Hunter thanked him.

    

     We said our goodbyes and walk outside. We climed into Hunter's car and drove toward Miss Kate's house. Miss Kate lives on the other side of the city so it will be quite a drive to get to her place. We could have just called her but something as important as this needs to be told in person.

    

     I fell asleep in the car as I always do on long car rides. Eldon shook me gently, as I begin to wake up he begins to speak to me.

    

     "We are finally here babe." Eldon said.

    

     "Okie Dokie!" I reply with a dorky giggle, I was still kind of tired.

    

     We rang the door bell and waited... Moments later Miss Kate opened the door, she seemed surprised but happy to see us. She invited us in and leads us to her famliy room, as Eldon and I are sitting on the couch she notices the regretful expressions on our faces.

    

     "Okay guys, I know you love me but you wouldn't drive across town to just say hello... whats wrong guys?" Miss Kate asked.

    

     I knew I was about to stutter before tell her what was actually going on so I nudged Eldon, signaling him to start talking. He widened his eyes at me and I mouthed the words please, he sighed and began his explanation.

    

     "Miss Kate, Michelle and I were together last night and we..." He paused.

    

     "It's okay Eldon, keep going." She urged him.

    

     "...I ...I got her pregnant..." He said while breaking down into tears. Miss Kate has been like a mother to him, it must have been very difficult to tell her this.

    

     Miss Kate looked over to me and just stared for a while. She starts wobbling back and forth, her eyes rolled in her head and she fell backward.
