Chapter 2
When we finally found Deidara and the others, I announced that the area was clear. Sasori led us to a cave he found also along the river. It wasn't a very deep cave, but it was big. By this time, the rain was pouring hard. Using a fire jutsu, I started a fire and placed several large stones around the fire. I went and sat against the cave wall across from the fire as the others situated themselves. The air was filled with the scent of rain and the wet ground outside shimmered slightly from the rain. I looked across from and saw that the girl sitting there staring at the ground. For the rest of the night, even when everyone was asleep, I stayed awake thinking, trying to figure out who this girl was. I didn't know her. I guess she could've been accepted after I left, but there was another thing. She's seems familiar. After thinking about it for a while, I fell asleep.
Early the next morning, at the break of dawn, we all got up to begin looking for the shinigami. The girl knelt down and once again opened her scroll. After completing the tracking, she led us in the direction of the chakra trail. As we walked, I looked back to see all the other Akatsuki members wearing their hats. Good, if the girl does get away, she won't know our faces. The girl getting away, what if this girl is lying about the whereabouts of the shinigami? What if she was leading us into a trap? The thought had never occurred to me before. Well if she does I will be sure to kill her on the spot. I slowed my pace so that I was walking beside Deidara, Sasori, and Kisame. The four of us walked a few feet behind the girl, watching her as well as the areas surrounding us. After several hours of walking with no sign of the shinigami, Kisame was growing impatient. Walking up to the girl, he grabbed her by the throat and held her up in the air. "Where is the shinigami? We have been walking around for hours without a sign of its whereabouts!" holding her neck even tighter, the girl began to gasp for air. Just before the girl could go unconscious, Deidara put a hand on Kisame's shoulder and told him to release her, she was the only lead we had for now. Kisame grunted and threw the girl to the ground. "Next time, I will kill her." The girl slowly got up and continued to walk. After a little further on one of the branches of a tree was a branch. On the branch was a piece of white fabric. She walked over and picked it up. Clenching her fist around it, she closed her eyes. The four of us watched her intensively. She slowly looked back at us and shook her head. "Well?" said Kisame.
"The trail ends here." said the girl. I could feel the anger of the others rising as well as my own. Before I knew it, Kisame lunged towards her and grabbed her by the throat.
"What do you mean, the trail ends? The shinigami couldn't have just vanished. I think it's here, but you're just hiding it." He tightened his grip on her throat, blocking her air flow.
"Kisame, Let me take care of this." I said, speaking for the first time since the morning.
"But-" said Kisame, but a look from Sasori told him not to argue with me. Kisame sighed and released the girl. "Alright"
Immediately when the girl looked up at me, I lifted my hat to reveal my mangekyo sharingans. I watched as the girl's eyes widen and I knew she was in my illusion. In my illusion the girl was tied to a wall. The sky was blood red and the moon was black. The girl watched as my body materialized from a flock of ravens. On the ground, stuck in the dirt were katanas. I walked towards her, grabbing a katana I stabbed her right in the abdomen. To my surprise, she didn't scream, but she did cough out blood. It dripped out from under her mask and covered her neck. Grabbing another one, I slashed her across the chest and this time she finally screamed. In my illusion this torture went on for days while in reality no one laid a hand on her and it only was a few minutes. Back in reality, her body laid limp on the ground with blood trickling from her mouth, out her from under mask. Deactivating my sharingans, I told the others I would stay and get rid of the body while they head off first. We had to go back to the hideout and regroup. They hesitated at first, but after looking at her body, they nodded their head and jumped into the trees and started back to the hideout.
