The Catacombs

Chapter 2

    Maralyn turns into the student parking lot behind the school, and looks around for a parking spot. Everyone is quite, letting her focus. "Look there's one." Laurissa exclaims pointing to an open parking space. Maralyn quickly pulls into the space before someone could steal it. "Good find Lauri." Dakota says with a smile. Maralyn turns her key, and turns off the car. "Alright, so do you guys wanna head inside or stay here for a while?" She asks.

    "Let's stay here for a bit. I heard about something going around school and I wanted to tell you two." Laurissa said quietly.

    "Ooh~ gossip" Maralyn said with an eyebrow wiggle. Dakota giggled.

    "Alright, alright... So do you guys know who Robert Smith is?" Laurissa asked. They nodded. "Well apparently he disappeared this weekend, and they haven't found him yet, and people are saying that he went to the Catacombs; under the school." She exclaimed.

    "Oh come one, he probably is just playing hooky or something! That "Catacombs" rumor is stupid, nobody has been able to get into the Catacombs for years." Maralyn said with a huff.

    "Yea, wasn't every entrance in the city filled in? No one can get down there." Dakota added. "The last time someone was down there was when that tourist went insane, and killed all those people...then himself."

    The girls were silent. Then Maralyn spoke up. "Well...like I said, I bet he's just playing hooky. Let's not worry about it for now." Maralyn opens her door to get out and pauses. "I bet he'll be back tomorrow anyways, and everything will be fine."

    They nod and head out of the car, to the school building. Dakota glanced around at the groups of kids talking among themselves, some giggling, some being obnoxious, others talking calmly. She heard yelling and looked over; rugby players tossing a ball around. Ugh she can't stand them sometimes, there too loud and don't realize that they're are other human beings that exist. But she has to admit, some of them are nice. Like when she dropped her folder and one of them helped her clean up the papers that fell out. Oh, he was so sweet,  caring, and handso- "Earth to Dakota!? Hellooo!? Snap out of it!" Dakota blinks and sees Laurissa waving her hand in her face. Dakota blushes and awkwardly smiles. "S-sorry."

    Dakota looks behind Laurissa and sees her group of friends standing behind her. Maralyn, Alexander, and Louis. Louis is chuckling, Alexander is shaking his head with a smirk on his face, and Maralyn trying to not smile. Dakota blushes profusely and turns away. "I swear, you have a super power where you can tune out the world." Laurissa groaned. "Hey Alex, hey Louis." Dakota mutters. "How was your guy's weekend?"

    "Good." They both said.

    "I had a football tournament." Louis said happily.

    "I just played video games." Alexander shrugged. "Wait did you guys here about Robert?"

   "Yeah, and I call B.S on it." Maralyn sneered.

    "Maralyn! Be nice, you don't know if he actually went missing or not. He could be in serious trouble." Laurissa said. Maralyn huffed and muttered something under her breath. "Well I haven't, tell me about it!" Louis said with excitement. The group starts to talk all about the incident, and what they think. Of course Maralyn is skeptical but the others have mixed feelings about it. As for Dakota, she wonders if it's really true. Is there really entrance to the catacombs in the school basement?

The bell rings.
