*Hadiza*
A day to her sister's wedding and she kept on getting international calls, firstly from a husband maniac and then from a control freak. She recalled her conversation with whosoever he said he is.
'Hello'
'Hello, this is Hadiza Blair Malik ' she'd replied professionally.
'I know' he said without introducing himself.
'Can I know you please? She asked since he wasn't polite enough to introduce himself.
'I'm someone you've seen once and your husband to be'. He declared. She was dumbfounded for a moment before she came to a conclusion on why a stranger would declare himself her husband to be, either he was a frustrated drunkard or was momentarily out of his mind but went with the latter.
It was already a day after Fiddy's marriage and her ranar budan kai. The ritual is to take place in her husband's house, where a certain amount of money is paid before her face is revealed to him and his family members.
She packed up a set of atamfa with a matching veil in her kit, then selected her simplest indian design jewelry which consists of a pair of earrings, necklace and six pieces of bracelets. She had to pack an extra outfit since she wasn't sure if she was coming back to Kano immediately after escorting her sister to her new home in katsina. She didn't Know when a tear dropped from her eye. She sniffed then exhaled, Firdaus is way too young for marriage but she wouldn't agree, she was barely done with her degree and still sometimes think like a child.
When she was done packing she peeped through her window to see if the groom entourage cars had arrived for conveying the bride, her family and friends to her new abode.
She picked up her kit and went in search of their mother. She found her amidst her in laws (Hadiza's father relatives) gisting."Sannun ku". She greeted.
"yauwa, kema sannun ki". They replied Sarcastically.Umma, Hadiza's mother felt the tensed air then decided to Intervene. She hated the pressure they put on Hadiza because she wasn't married yet but there was little she could do about it.
"what's wrong girl? Her mother asked after she had dragged her away from the piercing eyes of the eagles."Maa, gaskiya, I don't trust Alwan, Firdaus's husband. I once saw him with a lady at the mall but I shrugged it off because they weren't serious yet but again I saw him making out with Naja one of the bridesmaids".
"Haba! Why didn't you tell me earlier, I'm stopping the marriage n...
'A'a Umma, please let's just pray for him and maybe he was just having his last fling before his marriage'. Said Hadiza.
'Dije no, marriage is supposed to be a lifetime contract, I don't want Firdausi to do what she's going to regret'.
"Umma please don't let me have bakin Jini in this family, stopping this marriage will only make my sister and the rest of the family hate me, she's too blindly in love to know I'm only protecting her. Let's just continue praying and wishing her luck in her marriage'. She persuaded her mother.
Right from time she wasn't in support of her sister's marriage to Alwan, she had asked her to do an istikharah over it, but fiddy had it and said the result was positive so she could nothing over it.
After saying a silent prayer for her sister, she picked her kit and went outside their house where the bride convoys were waiting.*******
Katsina, Nigeria. It's been over 2hours since they arrived at katsina and they had been treated right by the groom's family, his family weren't anything like him, they were very humble and friendly even though they weren't as rich as one would have expected for an arrogant person like Alwan. The apartment which he got for Firdaus wasn't at all big but comfortable at least.
After they had rested a bit, they stood up and began to furniture and decorate the apartment. When it was almost time for Isha'a dinner was brought to them just then her phone started ringing again.
