Lies

How it all started

My first lie was a little white lie. It was in grade two, I told a friend that she packed the worst lunches. We weren't friends after that. The next one, I was also in grade two, I told the teacher, the dog ate it. Funny thing was, he believed me, and he didn't make me do the homework again. In grade three, it had gotten worse, I started to lie every week, then at least three times a week, then daily, then multiple times a day.

If I hadn't of lied all those years ago, I wouldn't be where I am today.

Yes, I do get upset sometimes, I don't want to lie, it just happeneds. So I go to mum, and I tell her everything.

"Mum." I said, semi scared.

"Yes darling, what is it, is it something at school."

"No, well maybe, yes, it is" I replied.

"What is it honey, is it about that mean girl, Scarlett." Mum asked, sounding kind, kinder than usual.

"Her name is Charlotte, sort of, ok, I um..."

"You what honey."

"I...I...I... I sort of made her up." I burst out, she was going to find out eventually.

"You what! Why, how, do your teachers know, if they do, this will effect your schooling, your career, your whole lif-"

" No mum, they don't know, it won't affect my career."

"But why, why would you do this to me." Mum asked me, sounding less and less kind.

"I can't stop lying, that is all I do, so I needed someone to blame, anyone, but me. So I made her up so I could tell on her."

"Go to bed." Mum says.

"But I need dinn-"

"I said go to BED!" Mum said, yelling the last part.

Ok, my mum never yells, she must be pretty upset. I head up to bed, wondering why this was happening to me.
