Scene 1:
Dressed in her grey (rather loose) school uniform, hairs tied in lose pig tails, typical black school shoes, Inaya entered home. She is 15 years old now and in grade 10Umaima was in the kitchen with cook.
Inaya looked up, "Aslam o Alaikum Ami."
Umaima: Walaikum Asalam mere shehzadi. School kesa raha.
Inaya: Acha tha Ami.
She steps in the kitchen, while observing extra preparations and asked her mother, "itna khana kiss k lia banarae hen? Koi araha hai kiya?"
Umaima: Han shaam ko mere doston ki dawat hai. Tum ja k fresh hojao aur homework waghaira say jaldi farigh hojana.
A small wrinkle form in Inaya's forehead, she doesn't feel comfortable around her mother's materialistic friends. But she didn't say anything. She knows it won't make any difference if she tells her mother that she doesn't want to join her friends.
At that moment her brother entered too;
He was wearing white slim fit shirt of uniform, blue nicely stitched dress pants and tie and very impressive shoes.
Driver was walking behind him holding his bag.Maaz: Aslam o Alaikum Ami.
He ignored Inaya in his haste kissed Umaima on her cheek.
Umaima: Walaikum Asalam mera beta.
Maaz: Ami I'm really tired, main aram karonga thora.
He rushed to his room.
Umaima called him from behind, "to beta khana nae khogay kiya?"
Maaz replied before closing the door of his room; "Nae! Kha k aha hon."
Exhausted Inaya also dragged herself in the room and threw her bag in the corner. She looked up in the mirror at herself. Her friends voice started to echo in her head.
Friend's voice: Inaya yr apna uniform to thora sae karwalo, as lagta hai thela pehan k agae.
Inaya grabbed uniform from her waist in a way to make her thin waist visible through fabric. She looked at herself from every direction. A smile appeared on her lips.
Suddenly her mother's voice from outside the room startled her.Mother's voice: Aray jahil ye hissa kon saaf karay ga?
Inaya quickly took her cloths out n rushed to washroom to change.
Scene 2:
Inaya was sitting on her study table completing her homework when her mother entered. She was already dressed perfectly from head to toe.
Umaima: Inaya tayar nae hoi, mehman atay hi hongay.
Inaya: Ami tayar to hon.
Umaima: Ye tayar ho? Kam say kam shakal hi sae karlo monh pay phitkar baras rae hai.
Inaya is used of such comments from her mother now. She was wearing loose kurti, shalwar and a matching scarf wrapped around her neck.
Before her mother lose her temperament she replied right away and while looking down; "G karti hon."
Servant's knocked at the door....
Umaima stormed out and opened the door.
Servant: Bhabhi mehamaan agae hen, drawing room main bethain hen.
Inaya got up and went to dresser, took some pink gloss and applied in on her lips. Comb her hairs and tie them up in a loose ponytail.
She looked at herself in the mirror one last time and sigh before leaving.
P.S
Inaya is an awkward yet simple teenager who doesn't mingle well with her mother's friends, (as the matter of fact, she doesn't mix well with majority of people)Yet some guests are at her home and she's obliged to join them. I hope no aunty of her's will utter anything to get Umaima go hard over Inaya.
