A set of bright eyes peeked out from within a bush, staring curiously at a black and white tom with a long tail that streamed behind him. The strange cat turned in Jake's direction and seemed to look right through him, but the loner was well hidden in his shield of dark green leaves. He saw the tom murmur something to his patrol, and then the other cats immediately walked away to who knows where.
"Alright! I know you're out there! Cone on out, I sent my friends back to the camp." The tom announced. Jake felt embarrassed he got caught, but he didn't want to make the black and white cat angry, so he abandoned his makeshift hiding spot and wearily stalked up to the strange tom. "Who are you?" The cat asked.
"M-My name is Jake, and I'm a house cat." The orange tom answered.
"My name is Talltail, and I'm a warrior of a clan called WindClan." The black and white tom introduced himself. "Why are you so far away from twoleg place?" Talltail asked.
"I was just... exploring." Jake lied. He was actually out in the forest just to stare at the perfect cat that is Talltail.
"Well, the forest is no place for a kittypet. No offense. So I must get you back to your nest where you belong."
"What, you care about me or somethin'?" Jake asked with a wink.
Talltail either didn't hear him, or was just ignoring him completely after that remark. Whenever the two cats got to twoleg place, Jake led Talltail to where his nest was, then he climbed the white washed fence and called down to the other cat. "You comin' up here?"
"I-I guess... but I really shouldn't." Talltail gave in, after all, how could he say no to such a handsome cat?
"Do you wanna meet my kittens?" Jake finally asked.
He has kits? Talltail thought to himself, slightly jealous and sad for reasons unknown.
"Sure, why not?" He answered before Jake ran through a little cat flap in the door and came out minutes later with two little kits. One orange like his father with forest green eyes, and another lighter colored one.
"The tom is Rusty, and the she-cat is Princess." Jake explained. "I have three other kits, but I left them with my old mate. If I remember right, their names are Ruby, Socks, and Tiny."
"They are adorable." Talltail finally admitted. "I must get back to my Clan, they must be wondering where I am by now." Talltail said before Jake interrupted with.
"Please don't go?"
