Chapter 3

Tuesday morning I meet Ed outside again. He greets me with a smile and we walk to school hand in hand. Because we only have one class that's different, our timetables are almost identical.

"Do you remember what we have first today?" I ask when we walk into the grounds.

"Uh, music I think" he responds, and I nod.

I guess we must have dawdled a bit on the way to school today, because we'd barely been there two minutes and the first bell rang. We made our way to the hall for fifteen minutes of nothing really, then we went to the music room.

"Oh wow", Ed says, admiring a guitar hanging on the wall.

"Do you play?" I ask.

"Yeah, since I was twelve", Ed says. "What about you, what do you play?"

"Piano mostly", I say, "Bu I'm not very amazing, sometimes a little bit of guitar, but I'm terrible at that."

The teacher walks in and tells us we'll be working on guitar today. Good and bad. Bad, because it can sound a bit like a dying cat when I play it (okay maybe not that bad), and good because Ed can show me how he plays it.

The music teacher gives us each a sheet of music to practice, and we all grab guitars and some of us go outside, including Ed and I.

We go and sit on a patch of grass away from everyone else.

"I wrote a song for you last night", Ed tells me. I smile

"Are you going to show me?" I ask.

He fiddles about with the guitar for a few seconds, then he starts to play a pretty melody and starts to sing

"You look so wonderful in your dress

I love your hair like that

The way it falls on the side of your neck

Down your shoulders and back

We are surrounded by all of these lies

And people that talk too much

You've got the kind of look in your eye

As if no one knows anything but us

Should this be the last thing I see

I want you to know it's enough for me

Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need

So in love

So in love

So in love

So on love

You look so beautiful in this light

Your silhouette over me

The way it brings out the blue in your eyes

Is the Tenerife sea

And all of the voices surrounding us here

They just fade out when you take a breath

Just say the word and now well disappear

Into the wilderness

Should this be the last thing I see

I want you to know it's enough for me

Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need

So in love

So in love

So in love

So in love

Lumiere, darling

Lumiere over me

Lumiere, darling

Lumiere over me

Lumiere, darling

Lumiere over me

Should this be the last thing I see

I want you to know it's enough for me

Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need

So in love

So in love

So in love love, love, love, love

So in love

You look so wonderful in your dress

I love your hair like that

And in the moment I knew you better"

I can't help but think of our day yesterday, how prefect it seemed, and how special he just made me feel.

I'm lost for words.

"Ed.. That was beautiful", I say, not really knowing how to feel, or what to say.

"I know we've only known each other a few days, but I don't think I've ever met anyone as special as you Kia", he says, and I just smile.

"Do you want to hear me play?" I ask cheerfully, but jokingly.

"Go for it!" He says enthusiastically.

I pick up the guitar and strum a few chords. Of course, I manage to make a string fly off the peg, and it hits Ed in the nose.

I burst out laughing while trying to apologise.

"Oh my god Ed, I'm so sorry" I say between fits of laughter.

"Don't worry about it" he says, and laughs with me.

The rest of the day flies by. The rest of the week too, and before I know it, it's Friday afternoon.

"Coming to the party tonight Kia?" A girl called Millie asks me.

"Probably", I say, unsure if even that's true. I'll ask Ed and see if he wants to come with me, sounds like a plan. But I'm not going to get drunk. Mum would chuck me out of the house if I came home tipsy...
