Danielle Baxter was sitting in her mom's car driving to her new house. Her mom looked at her through the mirror. "you excited Danielle?" danielle sighed. "i guess."Her giant schnauzer named Alaska layed down in the seat next to her. The dog huffed and laid her head down on Danielle's lap. The car pulled to a halt in front of a regular sized house and she looked up and sighed. Everytime they did something in life her mom always tried to impress other people by having the best everything. Her mom was trying to live in a normal sized house to where she could make more mom friends. Danielle was so sick of it that she hopped out of the car, grabbing Alaska's leash and slamming up the stairs to the porch. she pulled the key out from under the plant pot and quickly unlocked the front door and slammed the door behind her. she stomped up the stairs and walked into her new room finding it painted pink with a large chandlier in the center. she told her mom she hated pink. she let out a loud frustrated sigh and fell onto her PINK bed. She could hear her mom and dad arguing downstairs probably about how long it took them. Alaska jumped up beside her and together they fell asleep after a long day of moving.
Danielle Baxter woke up to the sound of her dad's alarm. Alaska propped her front paws on Danielle's bed whining. Danielle jumped up running over to her closet. She grabbed a pink shirt with a rainbow on it and threw it over her head making her frizzy, short hair, stand up. She grabbed a pair of blue jean shorts and a belt and quickly pulled her outfit together. she grabbed her brush of her dresser and brushed her matted hair. Before her dad could walk out of his room she ran downstairs opening her cabinets pulling out pots and pans. she quickly put water in the pot and ran across the kitchen grabbing two mugs. she was fixing breakfast as her father walked in. "is Breakfast ready?" he said yawning sitting down at the dining room table. "almost daddy." she turned to him holding up the coffee pot and a mug. "coffee?" her dad looked at her strictly. "what do you think?" he say turning his attention to the dog, whining at Danielle's feet. "get that dog out of the damn kitchen." he said as Danielle turned around grabbing Alaska's leash and taking her into the living room. "i have to go to school. i only have 3 days to make friends." she says grabbing her bag and Alaska's leash. "be home no later than 5." her dad said tilting his head at her. "yes sir."
Danielle walks down the road holding Alaska's leash close. "how do you think the first day will be?" she says looking down at her doggo. Alaska gives her a look. "i guess it'll be okay." she gets up to the school. as she walks up to the building she recieves looks from a mix of people. She gets up the stairs and into the large building. She walks down the narrow halls still recieving looks. Eyes shifting from her to her dog. as she walked she could hear whispers. "is she new?" and "why did she bring her dog?" She disregarded these comments and continued her walk to the office. She found the door with a sign hanging above it indicating it was the office. she walked into the room and watched as several women looked up from what they were doing and towards her. "hi... i'm Danielle Baxter and i just moved here. Could i please get my forms?" The lady handed her two pieces of paper. One a schedule and the other a locker combination. "you probably won't need books since there is only 3 days left but i am going to go ahead and give you a locker to hold your stuff." the office lady said giving her a smile. "thank you." she said turning around to leave. as soon as she got to the door, the office lady called after her. "miss... miss... you aren't allowed to bring pets in the building." she said gesturing at Alaska. "with all due respect mam. Alaska is not a pet and she will be attending school with me daily." she said smiling at the office lady watching as her face changed to shock. "have a nice day!" she called after exiting the office.
She walked down the now empty hallway to her new locker. she finally found her locker and twisted the lock to the numbers the office lady gave her. She put her new backpack and Alaska's bag into her locker. She shut her locker and looked down at her schedule. "Mrs. Thorsby, Room 232" She quickly started down the hallway and continued to look down at her schedule before running into someone being knocked off her feet. "Watch where you're going, freak." He said before continuing to walk highfiving two other boys. She went to stand up but Alaska started licking her face. "not right now Lasky, we gotta get to class." she said standing up and brushing off her shorts. She continued walking down the hallway. "240, 238, 236, 234, 232. Here it is Lasky." She said walking towards the door. She looked through the window into the classroom and saw about 15 kids watching a rather plump woman wearing a long dress that hung off her at odd angles. She pulled the doorknob and watched as everyone's eyes shifted to her in sync."you must be our new student." the teacher said walking over to her desk pulling off a little sticky note. "yep." Danielle says sighing. "Danielle Baxter, is that correct?" she said looking at the teenager. "i'd rather be called Danny." she said looking down at Alaska. "ok then, Danny. please take a seat. Also i don't know if you are aware or not but you aren't allowed to have pets at school." she said . "Alaska isn't a pet. Plus the office already knows and they didn't seem bothered." she flashed her teacher a warning smile which basically said ...just tell me where to sit... "go sit by Ben Hanscom in the back." she said gesturing to the chubby boy in the back. "will do." She got Alaska up and walked to the back of the room hearing people whispering the whole time. "awww, look at the puppy!" girls whispered back and forth. She sat in the desk by the back window and looked out the window at the morning sun, beaming in to her eyes. Alaska huffed and laid down next to her desk. "
