three classes later and the bell finally rang. It was lunchtime. Danny ran to her locker obviously more excited than Alaska. she grabbed Alaska's bag and slung it over her shoulders and then pulled out her bag and walked down the hallway towards the school courtyard. She opened the door and was blasted by the sound of kids running and playing. She stepped down the stairs and into the courtyard. She received occasional glances as she walked over to the tables. She sat down on the top of the table and held Alaska's leash in her right hand watching as other people went on with their lives. This relaxed her knowing she was the only one in the courtyard who was not doing something. She sat at the table and focused her hearing on the trees above her, listening as the wind whistled past each leaf. She turned to look at other kids when a specific one caught her eye. the one who had knocked her down in the hallway. she walked over to the nearest kid. "who is that?" she said pointing towards the tall, blonde, boy. "His name is Henry Bowers." the girl said who had red hair and beautiful blue eyes. "ok thanks i just wanted to go talk to him really quick." the girl grabbed her arm and dragged her away "i wouldn't do that if i were you. He is the school bully." Danny looked down at her shoes. "Ok." the girl bent down to Alaska. "well you're just a precious baby!" she said stroking Alaska's fur. "does she have a name?" she said putting her attention back on Danny. "Alaska." She said bending over to pet her too. "Alaska...pretty." they both stood back up. "i'm Beverly by the way." she said extending her hand. "Danielle but just call me Danny." she said now shaking her hand. "See you around Danny." she said before disappearing into the crowd. "whoa who's the hottie?" she heard someone whisper behind her. "For God's sake, she's new Richie..." the other boy said. "and..." she assumed Richie said very nonchalantly. "don't scare her away." another voice chimed in. "It's not like i'm going to go up to her. That dog may bite my face off." he said laughing. "just don't scare her off before she actually settles in, you remember what happened with Polly?" this made the group of boys laugh. "yeah...yeah.... shutup!" before she could turn around to see who was saying that the bell rang.
RINGGGGGG
the next few school days went by like a flash, basically repeating themselves. She became really great friends with Beverly in between those school days. it was finally the last day of school and she only had two more classes to attend. "welp, that's the bell. let's get to... Math." Danny says making a face at Alaska. they walk down the hallway this time, but with other kids. The kids part for her like she is a god. "Geez, i'll never make any friends if people think they should be scared of me." she says whispering to Alaska. She gets to math and sits down in the back of the room again. a few minutes later a teacher walks in and sets his stuff down on his desk. "ok guys... today all i want you to do is get with a partner and make up some equations. one for each symbol." the teacher says before sitting down in his desk pulling a book out of his desk. She sits watching the other people pair up with their friends. she realizes she is the only one without a partner. "well, i guess you can be my buddy, Alaska." she looks up one last time to see a tall, scrawny, kid with black, curly hair, sitting by himself. She quickly approaches him. "h-hi." she says sitting down in front of him. His eyes widen and then he chills out a little bit. "you wanna be my partner?" Danielle said looking at him dead in the eyes. "uh... sure." he kind of shyly slipt out. "What symbol do you wanna do first?" he said twisting his pencil. "what about multiplication?" danielle said looking up from her paper. "what about 5x3=15?" he suggested. "that will work." she said writing down the equation. "ok what about 78-20=58 for subtraction?" she said still looking at her paper. "what are your ideas for addition?" she said looking at him again, letting out a small smile. "what about, me+you= a good time?" he said smirking. "ok that'll wo- wait..." she looked up at him. he looked scared of what she might to but then she just laughed and laughed. "go-good one." she said nearly crying of laughter. "but for real 99+1=100 seems good." she said still slightly giggling. they finished the assignment and then sat together talking about just life and her old city and friends. eventually, the bell rang. "hey, do you wanna meet me and my friends outside the front entrance after 7th period?" he said looking back at her. "sure... but what's your name?" she said leaning forward. "Richie!" he said yelling as he left the classroom. Richie....that sounds familiar... She packed up her things and grabbed Alaska's leash walking her into the hallway. The rest of the day went by really fast. She met a few other people. She didn't really make any friends. but the last bell signaled the end of the day. She walked out of the classroom and saw Beverly walk into the bathroom followed by a girl who looked like someone pissed in her cheerios. danielle quickly followed them in and watched as the Curly, blonde haired bitch made fun of Beverly. "Leave her alone, Bitch." Danielle said before she could stop herself. "what'd you just say to me?" the blonde turned to her. "i said... LEAVE. HER. ALONE. BITCH." the words rang out like poison. The blonde walked up to her. "make. me" she said spitting it in Danielle's face. by the time this had went down Beverly had slipped out of the stall. one of the blonde girls friends turned to her. "she's gone!' she said to the bitch. "What?! she can't be!" the blonde turned examining the stall. "you'll get whats coming." she said growling at Danielle. Alaska being protected of Danny, growled back.
