Selena's Apartment
3 am
Selena's POV

"Hello?" I muttered into my phone, my face scrunched in confusion as I lay in bed.

"Heyyyy Selly!" Carter's voice shouted in my ear. He definitely didn't sound sober, and I knew there could only be a few reasons as to why he was calling me so early in the morning.

"Carter, how did you even get my number? And why are you calling me?"

"Our good friend Geoff gave it to me! Am I not allowed to want to talk to my amazing, wonderful, fantastic best friend?"

I heard Carter burp on his end of the phone, and heard another man telling him to hang up and go home. Carter argued with this man for a while, before telling him he could crash at his friend's house.

"Right, Selena? See, Josh, I've got it," Carter said to the other man, who must be Josh, and I soon heard the bells on the bar door jingle, which I could only assume meant Josh had given up.

"I'm on my way Carter. Don't get in more trouble, please." I tried to hide the anger in my voice, but I heard Carter whine and could just imagine the pout on his face. When I hung up, I realized the phone he'd called me off of was the bar phone.

I pulled on the first pair of pants I could find, which were a pair of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shorts that I'd had since I was a teenager. They barely covered my bum, which probably wasn't a good idea walking to a bar at 3 am, but whatever. I had on a baggy white long sleeve top as well, and pulled on my pink fuzzy Fenty slides, then walked out of my door.

I trudged over to O'Malley's, rubbing my eyes in the process. It was way too cold for the clothes I was wearing and the street lights were way too light for my eyes to adjust. I opened the door of the pub and shot a half smile at Geoff, who shook his head and pointed to the corner of the pub. I saw Carter surrounded by a few burly looking men who didn't look too happy.

I pushed through the men, earning a few wolf whistles as I did.

"Carter!" I yelled as I got into the center of the circle. Carter smiled wide and wrapped his arms around my waist. I tried to push him off but he wouldn't budge.

"I'm sorry boys, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take this one with me."

As I turned to face the men, trying my best to look tough, I recognized a few faces. I quickly dropped my facade and smiled apologetically, looking back to a completely unaware Carter. His arms were still around my waist and I finally pulled free, grabbing the collar of his leather jacket and pulling him towards the door.

"Give 'em a few rounds on Carter, Geoff, and make it expensive," I huffed as I pulled the drunken buffoon behind me.

As we reached the doors, Carter finally got out of my grasp and wrapped his arm around my shoulder for support.

"Whoa!" he said with a laugh as we stepped down the curb onto the street, my arm around his back for support.

"Care to tell me why you were in a bar at 3 am surrounded by a couple of guys who possibly could have murdered you?" My voice was almost a growl as I asked him, not looking in his eyes. I was very annoyed with him right now.

"It was all under control Selena, I could've given them each a hundo and they would've left me alone," he said, reaching to grab his wallet. He stopped and patted his pockets, a frown on his face.

"Guess Josh took my wallet. And my phone," he said with a chuckle and wrapped his arm back around my shoulder.

"Who's Josh, anyway?" I asked him as I opened the door to my apartment building. Carter practically crawled up the stairs ahead of me.
