In midair and floating off to space,
I'm moving in,When Cristina left for Zurich, the very last person she'd expected to see again was Teddy. Smiling, sweet Teddy. Truthfully, she didn't think she'd ever see Teddy again, not after she left for Germany. But here she was, in Zurich attending a seminar Cristina was giving about her work with hearts.
"Long time no see" Teddy approached her, smiling as always. It had been years, five to be exact, but Cristina thought Teddy looked the exact same. Her hair fell in delicate blonde curls down her back, and the same green-blue eyes looked back at Cristina's own. Those damn eyes, they still made Cristina's heart skip a beat despite all the time that had passed.
"Glad to see you're not dead" Cristina jokes morbidly "got outta Seattle at the right time" as much as Cristina loved Meredith, as much as she knew Seattle would always hold a special place in her heart, she hated it there. She despised Seattle and all the bad luck that went with it.
In her opinion, the only good thing that came from it was Teddy.
"You and me both" Teddy laughs "it's good to see you again, Cristina. It was weird at first, seeing you I mean. We used to spend every day together for three years and suddenly I was gone, and so were you" nostalgia hung thick, and Cristina smiled sadly. She did miss Teddy, as much as she would've never admitted it, she cared for the older woman.
Back in Seattle, before the plane crash and before Teddy left, Cristina had developed feelings for her older boss, ones she wasn't sure how to navigate. It scared her, terrified her, but her heart always skipped a beat just for Teddy, and she didn't know how to deal with that.
Turns out, Teddy made it easy by leaving.
"I'm just here in Zurich if you want to visit sometime. I've got a guest room and believe it or not, lots of spare time" Cristina had more spare time now than she ever had before. The only downside to running a hospital was the administrative work, and the staff that did everything for her. She was hardly needed, only to sign some forms and make sure everybody was alive and happy.
Teddy nods, her curls bouncing. "I'd love that, actually. It'll be good to catch up again" she leans in to hug Cristina, letting it linger longer than normal hugs.
"I really did miss you, I still miss you" Teddy whispers into Cristina's ear, sending shivers down her spine.
"I missed you too"
Your hair is falling all around my face,
Like a parachute,Teddy called that Thursday, and by Friday afternoon she was on Cristina's doorstep, ready to spend the weekend there. Ever since meeting again at the seminar, it were as if no time had passed, and the pair had spent the whole week texting and video chatting. They couldn't go a day without speaking.
"How was the drive?" Cristina asks, taking Teddy's bag to put in the guest room. Cristina wouldn't have ever admitted that she was nearly jumping with excitement at Teddy's arrival. It felt like nothing had changed, like she was still a try hard resident in Seattle.
Teddy shrugs, shaking off the rain and hanging up her coat in the closet. "It was good, seven hours is a long haul though. I'm glad I managed to get this weekend completely free, otherwise I would've had to stay in Germany"
"I'm glad you could too" Cristina was lonely, as much as she hated to admit it. She didn't have many friends besides work friends, the language barrier was harder than she'd expected and the cultural differences were a shock as well. So Cristina, for the most part, spent her free time at home alone, with nothing but her thoughts to occupy her.
