I struggle with
the memory a bit longer.
My eyes flutter and close
in surrender.
I am on the island now
surrounded by the boundless sea.
So broad,
so deep
and alive
Salty mist clings to my skin
as the beige wet sand
massages my soul.
I linger in the moment
then follow the memory
to the place where
I left my heart.
