Mahiru laid motionless in the bed.His breathing was so shallow almost nonexistent. And his heartbeat was so slow,as if it wasn't working at all.He wasn't asleep, yet not quite awake. The eve was in a state between living and dead, awake and asleep.Though his body wasn't working well, his mind was.He could hear two voices near him.One would send a chill down his spine if he could feel anything,it was Tsubaki. The other, was Sakuya. He tried focusing on what they were saying but it was no use.He couldn't believe this, here he was with his enemy most likely dying. And all because his friend Sakuya helped Tsubaki get him.He wanted to cry.Not that it was possible though.
A normal person would be angry with their friend,no furious. But Mahiru wasn't mad with Sakuya. He warned him before he could never betray Tsubaki, and that Mahiru would be in danger around him.If anything besides obvious heartbreak and fear of what was to happen, Mahiru was disappointed in himself. If he had kept his promise and gotten Sakuya away from Tsubaki this never would have happened. He failed at saving his friend, and now he was paying the price. He wondered what the Servamp Of Melancholy's plans with him was.If it was to kill him why was he still alive?(Kuro..is this a trap to get Kuro perhaps.Use me as live bait?)He wondered.
A new worry entered his mind. Two actually. One,was Kuro even alive? And the other was their distance limitation. How far were they from each other, and how long were they apart? He decided there was no use worrying, after all he couldn't do anything.Though of course he was worried for Kuro, hoping nothing would happen to his lazy friend. He could hear Sakuya speaking again,he sounded upset about something, but what? Then he heard Tsubaki's laughter.
Standing over Mahiru while he laid helpless was Tsubaki staring at him with an eerie smile. Sakuya frowned and spoke up. "What if his servamp wakes up and comes looking for him?Are you not a little worried about what he might do?If you do turn Mahiru into a subclass,"He stopped talking as Belkia came running in. "Tsu Tsu!Sleepy Ash isn't where we left him.I knew we should of just killed him!"He whined in a desperate tone fearful of Kuro. "Almost interesting..let's see if he can reach us in time shall we?Beru you and Higan find brother Sloth and keep him distracted.Do not kill him.Sakuya, you will stand guard outside the door.Just in case he makes it past Higan and Beru." Tsubaki said laughing softly through his sleeve, then adding. "Boring..."
Belkia looked at the servamp questioningly,(Why not kill him?) He wondered walking away. Sakuya sighed and went outside the door to the apartment and waited.Closing his eyes he clenched his fists.Mahiru through his dazed state had managed to make out the last thing Sakuya said.(Turn me into a subclass..that cannot be.He wouldn't would he?)For a few brief moments his heart stopped altogether from fear.No way would he want to be Tsubaki's subclass,he didn't want to serve Tsubaki. And he definitely didn't want to leave Kuro behind. It wasn't being a vampire that scared him,but the possibility that he might become enemies with his friends. He was scared, and angry.
