meizhen felt like an old part of her life came back. forgetting the past is one of her beliefs, but that part has a little taste of what she calls 'home'.
chengcheng could be the reason, the only friend (slash enemy) that lasted on meizhen's attitude. he never left her side from kindergarten up to high school. he could've stayed too during college, but meizhen avoided him at all costs.
the two old friends are back again as classmates, and it reminds her of their childhood.
highschool kids meizhen and chengcheng were inseparable, though it's really because of him. they did everything together — from going to school, eating lunch, leaving school, and doing assignments at each other's houses.
now they're at college, he still hasn't changed. chengcheng still annoys her during lectures in many ways.
her phone lit up for a message notification.

my lovely girlfriend"chengcheng, focus on class." she muttered with a low but hard tone to shut him up. causing a scene in front of the professor is the last thing she wants. luckily, her phone was on silent mode.

are you a mountain because i can't get over you"just one more and i'll stab you with my pen." meizhen warned, glaring at him intently and holding tight on her pen.

was that an earthquake or did you just rock my worldthat's the cue. meizhen lifted up her retractable pen in the air, the ballpoint tip hidden inside (she still has conscience and emotions), ready to stab his arm. but before the pen could reach his skin, chengcheng protected his arm with the hard cover of the notebook, and pretended to take notes.
she puts down her weapon and pinches his side instead. "eat lunch on your own." she hissed, whipping her hair rudely and goes back on writing, never turning to him again.
as soon as she said that, chengcheng apologizes continuously like a puppy even after the lecture ended.
though they say things to each other like that, almost everyday, meizhen and chengcheng know to themselves that they will never leave each other's side, like what they did back in high school.
meizhen doesn't like admitting it, even to herself, that chengcheng has and will always be a big part of her life. though she often shows she's annoyed of his presence, she can't deny the fact that she felt a different kind but familiar comfort around him.
one of the favorite things highschool kids meizhen and chengcheng liked to do was tutoring each other, though it's him who usually needs help on lessons he couldn't grasp. and there were times where he pretended to be stupid just to hang out with her more.
but now, he can't quite enjoy his tutoring time with meizhen, because another fellow joined (which means destroyed in his vocabulary).
meizhen, chengcheng, and linong were all huddled in meizhen's small study/dining table at her apartment.
the couple's first tutoring session at chengcheng's unit last week went fine, and he expected today won't be any different. he didn't want to do it in his mansion because he's sure his parents will meddle between them and steal meizhen from him, again.
chengcheng's day was going well, he's excited to hang out with meizhen again after class, until he saw linong waiting outside their university. meizhen wasn't aware too that he came there to hang out with her, using studying together as an excuse.
"so, you want me to tutor you two?" meizhen raised her brow and pointed at the two of them.
"why do you even need her help? we're from different universities!" chengcheng grumbled like a child blaming the fault on his brother.
"what we study is 99% alike. so, why not help each other? right, meizhen?" linong argued back and turned to look at meizhen, smiling to pursue her to agree with him. chengcheng tried to convince her too with his own weird facial expressions.
"well, both of you have a point and i understand that. though i usually prefer studying alone, i can't do anything since you're already here." she shrugged, arms crossed and alternately looking at the two boys in eyeglasses.
she was in no place to reject, seeing how linong traveled and her promise to chengcheng. technically, a normal meizhen can reject and drive the person away but it's chen linong and fan chengcheng we're talking about here.
the three had an argue on deciding where to do their group study. cafes weren't an option because meizhen hates those for having too much people in the surroundings. chengcheng immediately refused at the mention of linong's apartment and he doesn't want to do it in his condo too because he doesn't want linong there. but of course, he didn't say that. he's a stubborn child.
meizhen almost got into the driver's seat and crash them into a tree because the two were so loud. she decided to go into her apartment instead, thinking it was the only decent reason the two can be at peace.
"before purchasing a product, will a buyer base on his ideas and experience or opinions and reviews from friends and ratings online?"
"if it was me and it's my first time encountering such product, i'd base on experiences from my friends, because i trust you, meizhen."
linong's sly pickup line made chengcheng's eye roll. it wasn't one of his subjects, thus not understanding the two and gets less attention, which means chengcheng being sulky again, pushing up his glasses sadly. on the other hand, it made meizhen blush and almost stutter
"wrong. you need to see the general perspective of a buyer, nongnong, not just yours. according to research, a person will usually think of his past experience from that product or something similar."
chengcheng snickered at linong after meizhen corrected him and linong angrily squinted at the guy in front of him. he tried to steal meizhen's attention.
"meimei, you took this elective before, right? please help me." chengcheng acted cute, blinking behind his glasses, but she didn't look at it.
before she could say anything, linong interrupted. "i took that too! it's easy! don't you know we were always classmates before?" linong smiled at him and chengcheng presented a fake one.
"let's just study altogether, okay?" meizhen declared and proceeded on chengcheng's topic, with linong occasionally joining in.
it was a bit of a mess, a complete chaos at first, but the group study worked out not bad as they've expected. big thanks to ji meizhen for putting up between the two's childish acts.
being an introvert and a person who hates communicating for insignificant purposes, she herself is surprised on how social she is lately. meizhen is usually satisfied with having only one friend, and now she has two.
