You may ask yourself.
'What's a soulmate'?

Welcome to my world.

"The string in which connects two specific people together, your parents probably told you about it!" Mrs. Tanalski said.
"You are the only person that can see your own string." Mrs. Tanalski explained, "they're the only clue you have to know where your soulmate currently is."

Most people dedicate their whole lives to finding their soulmate,
even as kids.
The other few learn to ignore the string and wait until they're fully mature to find their special someone.
And the other ones,, they just find someone who isn't their soulmate for.. practice?
I never really understood that.

Surprisingly enough
This is really the only thing I'm not interested in,

Natsuki leaned back on the rug where her other classmates have been sitting on, the people surrounding her bombarding the teacher with questions.

"What if I don't have a string?"
"What if it gets tangled?!"
"What if we never find them?.."

Natsuki sighed, she closed her eyes and just, took small breaths.

Who would be interested in such a thing anyways?

It's a string.
You can get those at the store!
Why would you dedicate your life to the end of a dumb string?

..It'll take forever..

Natsuki squinted her eyes, and looked down at her hand, her pinky finger being the one with the red, thin string tied around it precisely.
She turned her hand, but shook it quickly, the string seemed loose, almost as if the person was near.

Pff-
No way.

Natsuki groaned to herself, and looked up at Mrs. Tanalski, she continued her lesson about this,, stupid,, stupid string.

The lesson felt like forever, as Natsuki just dazed off into the distance, her thoughts blurring her mind from reality.

Her friend, Yuri, tapped her shoulder.
"Hey! This is important, you can't miss it." She said in her soft voice, Natsuki gave her a look, is she dumb? There's not a way in hell this whole string theory is important, or whatever.

"Why would it be important if we don't have to worry about this right now?" Natsuki looked at her like she was dumb, Yuri dropped her head down, and crawled back into the back of the small group on the rug.

The bell ring, which meant,, nap time!
Keeping track of the schedule was kind of hard.

Mrs. Tanalski took out the mats from the closet, and handed one to each student.

To be honest.

No one really slept in nap time.

Natsuki layer down on her side in fetal position, and glanced over to Yuri, who seemed to be staring up at the ceiling, she looked like she was in a world of her own.

"PSSt-" Natsuki whispered in her usual high pitched, obnoxious voice.
Everyone but Yuri looked at Natsuki, giving her some weird looks and a side-eye.

Natsuki rolled her eyes, and turned to face the wall, which was handy since the wall had some writing on it.

Natsuki could've never read it, the words were long, and hard to figure out, even if you were to sound them out.

Plus, who would sound words out when it's supposed to be silent? You can't speak, or the teacher would yell at you and disrupt everyone else.

That's public school for you.
