diary entry #2

Grayson had a young Patrick Swayze look to him. Like how he looked in The Outsiders but, in all honesty, I don't find Patrick Swayze attractive at all. But Grayson... Grayson was attractive. Not that, that mattered.

Guys never really interested me. I mean, I am straight. I find men attractive. I can get romantically attached to men, but I never outright wanted to search for love. I just didn't care for it. Martin and I met in middle school. Martin, Grayson, Myrna and I all sat at the same table in Social Studies. We got close. As close as middle schoolers could get.

Martin asked me to the spring formal, and I said yes because, well Martin was cute. Then, we just started dating. Nothing changed and I chose to fall in love with him. Some people may believe that you can't choose who you fall in love with, but you can. You can choose who you get close to. If you don't get close to someone, you can't fall in love with them. It's simple.

Maybe I didn't care much for love because I've had it the past 5 years.

"Where's Martin?" Matt asked as he set the two plates of food down on the table.

"Dumped me. He's dating Myrna now." I rolled my eyes. "Where's Brielle?"

"At home with the kids." Matt raised his eyebrows. Matt's blue eyes looked tired. But in a good way. In a, I have seven kids at home and I barely sleep, kind of way. I remember when his eyes were tired because he couldn't sleep because of the pain. I don't remember much about his accident. I was a baby. But I remember Marc's. And I remember Devin's... "Kenneth got the flu at school. And then River got it. And then Robbie. And eventually the triplets. Brielle started feeling it coming on so Daisy's sleeping in my office."

Matt pulled out the baby monitor from his apron and waved it.

"That sucks, dude." I laughed.

"Your situation sounds like it sucks too." Matt joked.

"Eh." I shrugged. "Life sucks."

"No it doesn't." Matt shook his head with a small smile. "There's worse things that could happen."

"I'll give you guys a ride home when you're done." Matt called out as he made his way back to the kitchen.

"That's a lot of kids." Grayson commented once Matt was far enough away.

"One less than my parents." I explained. "He's the only one that inherited my parents' luck of having twins and triplets."

Grayson nodded before taking a bite of his burger. "So, how is this whole revenge thing going to work?"

"It's not that hard. You're going to steal Martin's role as football captain, his friends and his spot as valedictorian." I popped a fry into my mouth.

"Not that hard?" Grayson raised his eyebrows.

"Don't play stupid. I know you were the football captain for that prestigious private school in Westview and I know that you got a full scholarship because of your grades." I imitated Grayson's look.

"How do you know all that?"

"I know a lot about a lot of things. I pick up on things and I rarely forget about them." I shrugged.

Grayson nodded while sipping his Sprite. "I'm not a people person."

"Then fake it. Martin deserves to feel like crap for what he did to me." I hissed in annoyance.

"For breaking up with you?" Grayson raised his eyebrows yet again.

"For destroying my friendship with Myrna." I seethed. "How am I supposed to be her friend while she's screwing my ex?"
