Sunlight peered through the hosptial room 407. The eyes of a certain orange-haired boy started to slowly open. The sun showed no mercy and aimed its beams at Hinata's big eyes. Hinata tried to lift up his hand for protection, but something held onto his hand. The grip was strong too. Hinata looked to his side to see a sleeping Kageyama in a chair, head on the edge of the bed, gripping his hand, and softly snoring. Forgetting about the sunlight, the weak boy examined the setter.
He looked like he was hit with a bus. There were dark circles under his eyes and he looked really pale. Hinata felt a pang of guilt and worry hit him. There was also another feeling that washed over him, but what was it?
"He's been at your side the entire time." Hinata's eyes darted up to see Sugawara. He held a box of chocolate, but Hinata seemed to focus more on Suga's words than the chocolates. "He refused to leave your side with the exceptions of using the bathroom and grabbing food."
"H-how long was I out?" Hinata asked softly.
Suga walked over and set the chocolates on the nightstand. He sat down in one of the chairs and made eye contact with the middle-blocker. "For three days."
Hinata croaked with shock. "Kageyama didn't go home for three days?!"
"Yeah. His family brought him extra clothes and stuff. They couldn't convince him to come home. We couldn't convince him to come to practice either."
Hinata was shocked. Kageyama watched over him the entire time? Why? Would he do such a thing, even after Hinata didn't heed his warning? He even skipped practice.
"You were over exerting yourself, and Kageyama knew because he has done it to himself before. He almost died from overexerting himself," Suga explained. "He loves you a lot. He just isn't very good at expressing it."
Hinata gripped onto Kageyama's cold hand and the white bed sheet with his other. "Kageyama is an idiot."
Suga chuckled. "He is a very caring idiot. Don't you love him too?"
Hinata could feel himself heat up. His hands started shaking and his stomach started to feel weird. Hiinata bit his lip and replied, "I am not to sure, Suga-san."
The gray-haired setter hummed, entering his thinking mode. After a couple minutes, Sugawara smiled. "I believe you like Kageyama," He said so bluntly that Hinata thought he was actually talking to Nishinoya.
"W-why do you sound so sure!?!?" Hinata asked, flustered.
"Well, what would you do if Kageyama were to overexert himself and was supposedly going to die?"
Without a second to spare, Hinata answered. "I would rush him to the hospital, then I would make sure I was always with him, then punch him for being stupid, then cry, and-" Hinata rambled and stopped. In one breath, he spilled out all of his honest feelings without realizing them from the start. "I-I like Kageyama."
Suddenly, the grip around Hinata hand loosened. With fear, Hinata turned his head to find Kageyama, staring at him and blushing madly. All Hinata did was freeze.
The thrid-year setter cleared his throat and was already half-way out the door. "Good luck guys!" Before Hinata could speak a word, Sugawara was out the door.
