I yawned, exhausted. What a day! I had spent my entire Saturday getting stuff done around the house. It was around three in the afternoon, the hottest part of the day, and even with the fan I turned on I was sweating myself a salty river. I had just finished fixing the couch and I was thinking of what to do next. An idea popped in my head, I grabbed my tools and set to work. A little while later, a noise startled me, and I looked up. Through the window stood a nightmare that I thought I had left behind ten years ago. He stared back at me, his coal-black skin cracking open to reveal a hideous yellow smile. Frozen, I could only watch as his beady red eyes crinkled as he laughed, a sound that cut right through the glass panes and through my heart. The only things I could think of were my wife, asleep in our room upstairs, and our twin daughters playing in the living room. Please no. He dragged one crooked fingernail down the window, still chuckling uncontrollably. Still frozen from where I was pruning the bushes, I stared into my home in horror. I grasped the freshly sharpened garden shears in my hands. He won't get away this time.
