Bliss Sanders

Bliss' POV

As I approached my building, I realized Landes Industries was purchasing the company.

"Good morning, Sheila." Sheila is the receptionist for the entire building.

"Good morning, Bliss. Have a great day," Sheila said as I made my way to the elevator.

Today is a day we have all dreaded. We find out if we are going to keep our jobs. The owner of Landes Industries scheduled a meeting with us regarding the company.

As I got on the elevator, I heard someone screaming my name. "Bliss! Bliss! Hold the elevator." It was my friend, Adam. I have guys and girls as my best friends at the company.

"You're early today, Adam."

"You're right. Now that Mr. Anderson has sold the company to Landes Industries, what will happen next?"

"I think we all have those same thoughts."

"Ding."

We finally made it to our floor. Our company is on the 50th floor, and the building is near the water. So, we have an incredible view of New York below us.

"Good morning, Bliss and Adam."

"Good morning, Mrs. Watson." Mrs. Watson is the receptionist for our company, Primedia Inc. Mrs. Watson is like the office mother to all of us. She even had all of us over for dinner at her house.

"See you at the meeting, Adam."

Adam went to his office, and I went to mine.

I am the secretary to Mr. Anderson, owner of Primedia Inc. He recently remodeled so that my office would be more spacious. We now have a reception area with a small kitchen for visitors. The kitchen has several Keurig machines, a microwave, a fridge, and even a mini wine fridge for special occasions.

Mr. Anderson thinks of me as his daughter, and I think of him as my dad. It is a shame we probably won't be in this building for long.

My parents died after I graduated from college. So, It's just me and my sisters, Jessica and Andrea. We live in our family home in Brooklyn. But we are looking for a new place to call our own. I am the oldest of three - 25 years old. Jessica is 24, and Andrea is 22.

I was knocked out of my thoughts when Mr. Anderson entered the office. Our offices are both in the same room. Double doors separate Mr. Anderson's office.

"Good morning, my dear Bliss."

"Good morning, Mr. Ander - sorry. Good morning, dad. Do you need me to get you anything before the meeting with Mr. Landes?"

"I will need you to approve the timesheets for last week, so I can sign off on them and forward them to Payroll. I will also send you an email that I need to have printed out for the meeting today. The meeting for today begins at 10:30 am. Each employee will receive an overview of Landes Industries. Mr. Landes and his group will be arriving at 10:00 am. Can you let me know when he arrives?"
