Jughead's POV
When Betty and Toni came into the class, I could tell something was wrong. Her eyes were watery and her smile just didn't seem genuine. She sat beside me and sighed before turning her head to look at me.
"Betts, are you okay? You seem--" "I'm great, Juggie," she cut me off, trying to seem cheerful. "Are you sure? You're eyes, they're--" "I'm fine," Betty cut me off again, only this time she sounded serious. What was scary was she was starting to get good at lying.
"No, I'm not," she sighed, slouching a bit. I pulled her closer to me and she laid her head on my shoulder. "Tell me what's wrong," I insisted. "It's just...Cheryl," she replied. "She's the daughter of the mayor, so she thinks she's all that." "Okay, so the next time she tries to pick on you, just tell her to go to Hell," I suggested.
Betty's head bolted up as she looked at me with a look of worry. "I can't say that!" She whisper-yelled. "Why not?" I asked, playing dumb. "I could get in trouble!" "Oh. Well, in that case, I'll just do it for you," I laughed. She hit my arm lightly and said, "Jughead Jones, don't you dare."
"Okay, okay, calm down I was kidding," I replied in defense. "I swear, if you do that--" "Betts, I don't even know who she is. How would I put this 'Cheryl' on the spot if i don't even know who I'm talking to?" I interrupted. "Okay, fine. I trust you," Betty replied as the teacher started talking about Alexander Hamilton and The American Revolution.

When lunch came, Archie, Veronica, Toni, Sweet Pea, Betty, and I all met up in the cafeteria and started talking about our days thus far. "Betty, have you heard anything back from Principal Weatherbee?" Veronica asked before sipping her drink.
I saw her face grow serious as she tried to mouth something along the lines of, "Why would you announce that? They're not supposed to know!" "What? What's going on?" I asked aloud.
Betty sighed and smiled again before saying, "As a welcoming gesture, I offered to plan a school dance to unite the North and Southside students." "Ooh, a dance?" Toni asked, interested. "Well, nothing is official until Weatherbee approves," Betty replied.
"I just thought it would be nice," she added before bringing her voice to a whisper and telling me, "And I wanted to go with you."
I smiled as the lunch bell rang. "Well, back to class we go!" said Archie as we all sat up and he helped Veronica up, me helping Betty up.
---
After school, Betty told me to wait outside the office so she could get a final answer from Weatherbee. She came out skipping and smiling, taking my hand as we walked out together. "So I take it it's a yes," I remarked, smiling.
"It is, Juggiekins," she replied before pecking my cheek. As we walked out, I found my motorcycle in the parking lot. "I rode it here," Sweet Pea explained without me having to ask aloud.
"Well, you're chariot awaits," I said to Betty, motioning to my motorcycle. "Oh, you know what I forgot?" I asked as she got on. "What?" "I forgot to get you a helmet," I answered, getting on in front of her.
I revved the engine and just as we were about to leave, I saw Betty look back at a group of girls who were laughing and poking fun. The girl I presumed to be Cheryl was laughing the loudest, making jokes of Betty and I. And before I could drive us away and get Betty away from all their ridicule, she looked straight at Cheryl and what she said shocked everyone around.
She yelled, "Go to Hell, Cheryl!"
