"Dammit, dammit, dammit!" Sarah murmured rapidly under her breath. The Crawlers were closing in quickly. About 15 of them in all.
"Shut up!" Kilila shouted. Her back was pressed against Sarah's. The brilliant blue of her eyes were scanning the surrounding Crawlers quickly as her brain failed to draw up an escape plan.
"Oh so sorry Kilila!! It just so happens that we are currently being caged in by bloody Crawlers! Am I suppose to stay quiet and become lamb chops!?" Sarah said loudly over the Crawlers groaning.
"Well I can't concentrate on preventing us from turning into lamb chops if you keep-!"
"WAIT, IS THIS TIME TO BE ARGUING!?" Sarah interrupted her. The Crawlers were barely a few feet away from them.
Kilila was about to reply when she spotted a small gap between two Crawlers. One where they would be out of the Crawlers fast reflexes and large enough for a human body to pass through. Kilila immediately sprinted towards the gap, completely forgetting about Sarah.
"So do you have a plan?" Sarah turned around to the empty area behind her where Kilila had previously occupied. Only raising dust remained there now.
.....
"KILILA?!" Sarah shouted. Her light brown eyes caught the running figure of Kilila. Sarah immediately began to run behind her. But only after muttering her favorite choice of words.
Kilila slipped through the gap between the Crawlers just as she heard Sarah's voice. Crap, she had forgotten to tell Sarah the plan. Kilila looked over her shoulder time to see Sarah leap over the shoulder of an unsuspecting Crawler. Seconds later Sarah's angry face appeared next to her, running along side her.
"What...the...fuck, Kilila!!!" Sarah breathed heavily. She looked behind her to see the Crawlers following in pursuit. And Fast.
"Sorry!! The idea just came ... and my legs took off ... by itself,... you know?" Kilila said just as equally out of breath.
"Of course ,because feet can think for themselves!!" Sarah jumped unto the pavement, still sprinting. Kilila, who was slightly ahead of her, glanced back at her.
"No, but since when could you leap over shoulders, huh?" Kilila questioned. The Crawlers were gaining on them fast. Way too fast. Kilila turned into a narrow street and Sarah followed.
"I don't bloody know! But don't you think we have bigger problems to deal with?" Sarah gestured to the Crawlers behind them with her head. Wait, no. Not behind them anymore but rather next to them. The closest one gripped Sarah's arm and yanked her back.
"Fuck!" Sarah swore. A knife appeared out of no where and planted itself in the Crawler's shoulder blade. The Crawler let out a hoarse scream and let go of Sarah. Kilila appeared beside Sarah and pulled the knife out of the Crawler.
Suddenly a brilliant flash of silver passed right in front of Kilila's eyes. Without thinking, Kilila automatically grabbed the silver object. A Crawler had thrown a metal pole at the girls. Sarah glanced in disbelief at the pole in Kilila's hand.
"Holy shit Kilila! Since when were your reflexes on point? Is that even possible?''
Kilila shrugged. "Dunno. But don't you think we should be running right now?'' Kilila jabbed a finger at the Crawler behind her.
"Oh Right!"
"Go, go, go!!!" Kilila shouted as the girls started running again.
"Up there!" Sarah pointed to a nearby five-story building. Kilila ran behind Sarah after stabbing another Crawler in the chest. The building appeared to be one of the cities' many deserted hotels. Sarah flung open the door and allowed Kilila in before shutting the doors on the Crawlers. They held their backs to it as the Crawlers pounded against the door with their abnormal strength.
