In spring days the streets of the kingdom of Hoshido were filled with merchants selling delicious food, children running with kites and above all, the cherry blossom petals looked beautiful when they fell. Everything was joy and fun. Although not everyone was having a good time...
The royal family took care of their daily routine; Ryoma was attending his royal meetings, Hinoka was training with her naginata, Sakura was chatting with her new friend: the youngest princess of Nohr, Elise; and there was Takumi, who was supposed to be relaxing with his wife, as they had been working hard to restore Valla, but he was somewhere else.
Each time he felt lonely, angry, sad or stressed, although generally, it was for almost everything, Takumi went to his secret place in the kingdom to hang out alone with his sacred bow, the Fujin Yumi. It was small but very beautiful, the sunlight through the blossom petals and the stream of the river at a distance made it perfect. It had been a long time since he had been able to train there, although he already had his hiding place in Valla, he missed that place very much. His place.
He was wearing his training clothes, his hair was loose and his gesture tense. Firing arrows towards the target should be relaxing him.
37 fired arrows... and none has hit the target.
But it wasn't working.
He felt distressed, with pressure on his shoulders, he could not sleep well during the night. The worst was over, they were no longer at war, the place that became their home was restored and now they were visiting his family in Hoshido. But then, what was wrong with him?
He sat down on the grass leaving his Fujin Yumi at his side. Now he was lost in his thoughts.
Being the king of Valla?
Having more responsibilities?
He "needed" to become stronger?Yes, but he was worried about something else.
The sudden sound of someone approaching made him be alert but his gesture relaxed when he saw Yuriko crossing the path.
"What are you doing here?" he looked at her, she was carrying an umbrella, probably she was trying to protect herself from the sun.
"I've come for a little walk, I knew you'd be here," she smiled. "I brought some sweet rice dumplings."
"You should be resting," he whispered.
"You're the one who should be resting," Yuriko sighted. "I mean, you'd been working and training so hard all day and at night you barely sleep!"
He said nothing.
"Anyway, shall we eat something? You must be hungry."
He scowled, showing her that he didn't understand what she means.
"You've been out for almost six hours! We were worried." The last words ended in a whisper.
He smiled just for a moment and help her sit, after all, he was indeed hungry. Yuriko took out the meal from the basket and offered him the dumplings.

"So tell me, what's the problem?" she asked softly as she brushed Takumi's silver-hair.
He tensed and moved a little uncomfortable. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm fine. "
Suddenly, Yuriko sat up to take Takumi's cheeks in her hands. "I know something is troubling you, please..." tears filled her eyes. "I'm worried about you, lately you isolate yourself a lot, you barely eat and sleep, I don't know what's going on, I'm-"
He cut her in a hug and Yuriko gasped in surprise. "Hey, I'm sorry, okay? Nothing's wrong with you. It's just that..." he got separated and looked down at her belly. "I d-don't know if I'll be a good father."
Her eyes opened in surprise with Takumi's sudden answer. But then, she smiled at him, wiping tears away from her cheeks.
"Oh, Takumi," Yuriko took his hand and placed it on her stomach. "Here. Can you sense them?" He had that expression of confusion again. "They already love you, dear! It doesn't matter if you will be a good father or not. For them and for me you are already the greatest father and husband someone could wish for." She kissed him. "And I know for sure you'll be the best of all. Because I believe in you."
Takumi used to believe he was a useless person, that nobody appreciated him or the time he spent training. Nobody believed he would come this far. Despite being of royal blood, nobody but his retainers care for him. He believed he was no more than another shadow in the world. Or so he thought. Until now.
He discovered that there really were people who care about him, his siblings, his friends, people who loved him. That there was no need to do great things to be recognized. He learned that it is a matter of time for the best to come to one's life. And so it would be. Not only the moment when he had the opportunity to get to know Yuriko better but also that now he would form a family with her.
It takes time for the best things to come.
And his worries would fade with time.
He will feel better.
