This was an American History assignment we had. Just in case you didn't know, I'm American, and now you know *hums with a soft smile* Don't bring up Trump, I already have enough to rant about him in this, but you'll have to see this later. This is an American, desendant of immigrant from about four generations ago, view on American Civil Rights movement, current problems, and how to possibly solve them.
Civil rights are these rights people are born with in your country. Each country has a different definition of civil rights, as in Syria if you bad mouth their leader you'll get murdered. But in the United States, you're granted more freedoms. Civil rights are the basic needs for human survival. Freedom of speech, enough options to give you the ability to put food on the table and have a roof over your head. The rights the Civil Rights Movement attempted to address was the human rights they were being denied of receiving. African Americans weren't given the same treatment as other Americans. The following is few of the many basic human rights denied to African Americans, these rights they deserved to have. The right to have a good income, a good education for your children, being treated fairly by your peers despite your ethnic history and social class. Despite earning many rights that African Americans had been fighting for a long time, today, things are hell. As for the reasoning, there doesn't need to be an explanation, just look at these events that prove why African Americans still aren't treated in the correct manner. African Americans aren't getting paid as much, or sometimes getting turned down for a job more than their "white" fellow workmates. Beyonce getting hate for performing at the Super Bowl in support for the Black Lives Matter Movement. African Americans getting shot in the street by cops who believe every little movement of theirs is one that endangers the cops lives. Lastly, there's a president of our country who supported the K.K.K. rally in Charlottesville. To address these issues, for police forces, they should be like sheriffs, take people from that community and have them patrol themselves. You can't educate "white" cops enough to know a culture as if they were raised in it themselves. Having African American cops of that area patrol the mainly African American neighborhoods, it'd make the citizens at ease because it's someone from practically their own family. With a "white" cop, they'd drop all the things they were taught because it's not second nature to them, it's not familiar, so all the thoughts leave their head and they go with their instinct. Take this example, our country is known for pot. If a cop from, say San Diego patrolled the area, the citizens would freeze up because the outsider isn't use to our way of life. They'd bust people for having pot all over the place. This is how it feels for African American citizens to have a "white" cop walking around. Treating people harshly for their beliefs, and getting people together to lash out on people for such, it's hate speech in any form, any situation, it' hate speech, and freedom of speech doesn't allow that. But other than it being constitutional or not, people have to understand that no matter the race, people have their views on things, and no supporter with have as much passion as the descendants of the people that went through it. Us as a nation needs to come together and accept that, and come to respect a person whither you agree or disagree with their views on things. You have to admire their persistence to voice their opinions, because I bet none of us would of had the guts to do what Beyonce did and use what you love, in a public atmosphere for the world to see, and contribute to an uprise. Employers need to understand that African Americans are just as capable workers, can be even more so, as their "white" employees, and they should be getting paid just as much as their fellow workers. As to how to fix Donald chetto colored, wig wearing, worse behaving than a three year old, Trump. It's too late for that old man, but what we can do is make sure we ourselves and the people of the following generation don't follow that jerks example. Here's to extincting Donald Trumps in the future!
In case you were wondering, I keep putting white in quotations because we aren't completely one race anymore, we are't all one race. We're descendants from Mexicans, Spaniards, Italians, French, ext. We're more than one race, and that doesn't make us what we once called "white." All of us came in as immigrants from other countries, whither in recent or past years. We're a country of immigrants.
P.S. this assignment was only centered around the Civil Rights Movement and current problems of American racial problems. I only address problems following the circumptance to the assignment. I posted this because I thought it revealed a lot about my views on racial issues in America.
