Enemy's Daughter

Chapter 3

Plan in Action

-Shane's P.O.V-

That night I had showed Jaelynn to my my vehicle. No one would know where she went, they would just think she escaped. As soon as I sat her in my car I told her to stay there for a moment before going back inside. I bent the bars of the cell apart slightly and left both the doors open. Everyone would think there would be an enemy inside our territory that had escaped.

Of course I would have to let Zeke and Jace into our little plan. I knew that secretly they wished for this war to be over wouldn't let anything get in the way. They would be Jaelynn's bodyguards when I'm not around until we marry. The I would have them be her bodyguards for more than one reason. Mainly two reasons, I didn't want her to run away from the deal and two just in case someone finds out she's the enemy.

I sat back into my car when I was done and started it up. "What'd you do in there?" Jaelynn asked with wide eyes. "I did what I needed to to make it look like you escaped." I started driving off into town. It would be morning soon. I couldn't bring Jaelynn home father will smell her ass soon as she walks in.

"What about the two guys that captured me? Surely they're going to recognize me." In my mind I smiled, she was a smart one. "Already planned, I'm not the only guy who wants this war to end, the two that captured you also want to end it."

"You mean Mr.Pissy?" she asked as she looked at me surprised. I nodded. "But, it's unfair to call him that, he has a very good reason to be that I don't blame him for."

Jaelynn rolled her eyes. "And what reason could that be? I see no reason for him to be like that." I sighed, I would have to tell her, then again we really had nothing else to talk about before the stores open and I can get her some appropriate clothes.

"He's going to be a father soon and.." She interrupted me. "But that's a good thing, don't most guys want to become fathers? Ya know to pass on their gene pool and everything."

I sighed. "Yes most do, please don't interrupt me and you'll know why he's pissy about it faster." She stayed quiet as she nodded. "Now as I was saying, He's going to be a father soon and since him and his girlfriend aren't married legally he doesn't want his child being born as a bastard."

I looked over at Jaelynn and she looked intrigued by this. I continued "Zeke himself was a bastard child and he always got picked on in school for having no legitimate father. Except Zeke says that he's going to make it work out and hopefully his girlfriend will accept his proposal. Their ceremony is only a few days after the birth because he knows not many women want to wear a gown and have a baby bump."

I looked over at Jaelynn. "Now you may speak." I had just spoken the words when she forced out the words. "That's stupid." I must have looked at her weird because I think she felt like she had to explain.

"In my pack bastard children are born all the time, and in my eyes as long as Zeke and his girlfriend are still together then the child is not a bastard. Most bastard children never know one parent or the other. For that child to have both would be the best for it not if they're married or not. What is marriage anyway? Just another piece of paper with yours and someone else's name on it."

When she was done speaking she was breathing hard from the exerted energy she wasted in the explanation. I was kind of surprised at what she said but she was right. The smiled thinking of something.

"Ya know, if marriage is just another piece of paper then how do you feel about our marriage." I smiled as she blushed. He eyes wide as she looked at me, I could tell she wanted to say something but was to flabbergasted to know what to say.
